I DECIDED
So i want to buy a combo amp for use with the comedy music project. jason (dots) is playing the important guitar stuff, but after our first rehearsal i think i decided, as did we all, that it'd be nice to have some rythym/other textures involved in some of the songs. so since it won't be an all the time playing thing, i don't want to drop a testicle in paying for it. i have a couple of ideas, but i want to see what you all reccomend. i'd probably not mind a single channel deal, like dot's pro junior, and even considered the little bitch champ that fender sells, as I can get one at a farily good deal at a shop (or shoppe) up the road.
so start throwing some ideas for combo amps out and i'll see what every one says. if enough people match my thoughts, then I know i'm fucking rad.

that's a great price on that deluxe. if i had the extra cash, i'd just buy that and let you use the jr.

It wasn't directed at you.
Either Jason is being oblique or he still hasn't grasped that you guys pay more for British made amps and we pay more for American made amps.
Tiny Terror costs - £299 over here which is approximately $600 which is what you guys get them for.
Hot Rod Deluxe costs - £549 over here, which is $1100. You get them for $700.
£299 is as good as it gets in England for a tube head.

ahhhh! fuck dude! that is a GREAT price on that fucker...if it were a shop or store and not a private seller, i'd totally just throw it on a credit card and pay it off in six months...and you know you could get him down to 250 if you called him and said, i got 250 cash, wanna sell it right now?
wanna go halfsies on it? lol
i'm scoping out "blonde" pro juniors right now. they look sexy as fuck.

i demo'd a tiny terror. they are definitely nice little amps. but they're def-o out of my price range unless i find a bummin' retard that it'd sell a used one for WAYYYY cheap...Mike wrote:It wasn't directed at you.

I would go Fender or used Mesa F series in the US, you guys get amazing deals on those amplifiers.St. Jimmy wrote:i demo'd a tiny terror. they are definitely nice little amps. but they're def-o out of my price range unless i find a bummin' retard that it'd sell a used one for WAYYYY cheap...Mike wrote:It wasn't directed at you.

The Tiny Terror is not overpriced, it is priced at British prices because it is a British amp and when it exported to you guys it SEEMS expensive but in actually it's not. You're paying the same we do. We pay MORE than exchange on American amplifiers.

Yeah. Arsecake was so tempted to buy a vintage fender bassman combo amp when he was here, just because he knew it would be twice the price back home.
St. Jimmy- Although my demo on youtube of the orange 10w combo amp doesn't do it proper justice (ask arsecake) I'd check into those series, I'm sure they make a 30 watt or summit. They sound amazing. Youtube makes mine sound like a metal amp and its all nazty. but you can get any sound, the cleans are amazing, and you can dial it up from crunch to metal overdrive.

the only thing with orange, is again, the price. i'm not saying they're not worth that price either. i'm just saying it's a little out of my range. i'm really wishing that dude with the used deville that jason posted would take my credit card...lol. i'd buy that fucking thing in a heartbeat.More Cowbell wrote:Yeah. i reallllly like jason's pro jr. i think it gets plenty loud for what it is and does, and is pretty versatile tone wise. the dudes that we were playing with were blown away that it had so much volume and balls to it...
the champ XD, is that solid state or tewb?

oh, i've grasped the concept, and i don't feel ripped off with all the features and functionality i get from my jvm. it's money very well spent. after having played through a tiny terror, though, i can't see laying out $500 - 600 for a 15w head with no speaker. if you get the matching cab, you're in it for over a grand! they sound awesome, and if money were no object, blah blah blah. . .Mike wrote:It wasn't directed at you.

jim, i'd recommend getting something other than a jr, honestly. you should get something with a 12" speaker to balance the sound better, imo. if i had the money to even go halfsies, i would, but with the kids' birthday, disneyland, etc coming up, there's just no way.

i guess it boils down to knowing that what i got is worth the money. there are definitely many purchases i'd consider before a TT, but they definitely intrigue the hell out of me. would have to hear what the head sounds like with its cab, though.Mike wrote:Yeah, but they do take the piss with their prices.
ah well. . . you're so right about the prices we get on fender gear. if one keeps their eye out for a week on craig's list, you're guaranteed to find somebody selling a twin or a deluxe for pennies. can't beat that.
i did see guy with a TT for $450.

oh i know. and i won't be buying something for a few weeks anyway...just trying to see what's out there. and i actually like the marshall valvestate amps, mike. i kind of like tube pre and solid state power section if you don't have a lot of money to spend. i'm going to look at the mesa F series as Mike suggested...maybe that'll be the one. i've also considered the epiphone valve junior as well...
