ah, did you get sick of waiting for me to do it? i'm a lazy bastard, honestly!

d'you reckon you could make a fulltone ocd? dunno how complicated they are but if you could do one or less than the £140 or whatever retail i could be tempted...
Nah I was just bored mate, I'd still be interested in your designs. I got laser labels and I think my printer is inkjet so it could all go wrong and cost me a printer :-/

I have a schematic around, I think it's do-able. I could probably do it for around £80/£90 in a box the same size as your muff. I've have to prototype it first and see how it goes.
it won't knacker your printer but the ink might not sit on the surface, it could smudge and brush off. i'll knock up some simple designs this week and email them to you.

well, if you think the ocd's a possibility i'd definitely be interested. no rush though, i just thought i'd 'put it out there' first.

This is a coupletone fuzz, awesome on bass and guitar, both full blooded and gated splatty fuzz tones available:

Really like the looks of those labels Mike (he hinted). If I'd have known silver was such a pain in the arse, I'd have plumped for another colour - sorry old thing. What did those weirdy controls (especially the bias) do on the fuzzface? Read somewhere that the other one (can't remember what it was called) acted the same as guitar volume.

Cheers dude, I was going to whack them on yours also if you liked them. No worries at all. Do you want labels on the controls also or just the front face blank?

Would you like it to just be called "Fuzz Face" or something else?

The contour changes the frequency response of the pedal like a tone control, moving from a rounder sound to a more edgy attack, while the Bias yes acts like a volume control on the guitar, albeit not one you can set to 0, you can use it to dial back the input level of your guitar though when you kick on the pedal, I guess for a cleaner fuzz sound? Lots of cool sound combinations from those controls anyway, sounds great to me.

I'm going to assemble it from tomorrow I think, your case just needed one more day, if I'm going to add labels and a bit of lacquer to the front it'll need another day's rest. Just let me know what you think.

It's basically the same as his '69 Fuzz pedal I think:

http://www.fulltone.com/69.asp

"If you love the first 2 Hendrix releases then you'll love this pedal, with 2 Germanium transistors hand-picked and tested for optimum performance. A Contour Knob lets you dial in Midrange, Harmonics and Sustain, also an Input Bias knob that takes out the "woofiness" and gives great Overdrive/Distortion sounds when its level is reduced."

It's apparently unavailable now as "no decent transistors" are left. Hogwash, they just cost a bit of moolah. I got yours as a specially tuned matched Medium Gain set from Banzai, lovely things.

That's weird - I thought the bias and the contour would work the other way around (if that makes any sense?). Label away on the controls, it'll help when I flip it.

I keed, I keed. Fuzzface is fine, too. Thanks for this, Mike. I'm now hankering after a hairy elephant, too.

EDIT: You've bloody posted in the middle, you cur. Thought it was the same as a '69.

ROLF

Well the coupletones fuzz = hairy elephant as I'm sure you've worked out. Great sounding thing. I built it to be sold in case you can free up some readies for it. They're very different sounding fuzzes but both excellent.

I shall label it up for you.

Oh gawd, get thee behind me, Santa. I'll more than likely be brassic after the fuzzface, but PM me a price for the coupletones, just in case.

Experiments with decals. You can see the label surround even through clearcoat, but I still think they look quite swish.

I love the imperfect-ness of the decals. Are you still going to date the pedals?

hahha. I was really trying too! Shame I'm so fucking clumsy.

Yeah I'm going to date and number the designs in marker pen I think.

Rob, next build I do for you I'll put decals on, I would offer to add them to your other pedals but to lacquer over the top I would need to unsolder the DC jack, and dismantle the pedal completely before laying the clearcoat, which is a bit of a pain to be honest.

If you're not bothered about clearcoat on top of them I could knock some up for you and post them out?

This is Tim's FuzzFace with Fuller mods (basically a '69 Fuzz). It sounds fucking ace. The Bias and Contour controls let you dial in all sorts of Fuzz sounds.

It can be powered by a battery, or by a regular Boss 2.1mm centre negative supply (as long as it is not on a daisy chain with other pedals). This is the way I'm building positive ground pedals, so you have a backup plan if you need it in a clinch for gigging or recording. If your battery goes - a standard supply with do.

Mike, that looks ace, thanks a million! PM me your bank deets and I'll shot the cash across on Thursday, if that's OK? Can't wait to plumb it in, the LED looks lovely too. And I have it on good authority that Eric Johnson will only use Tesco Value batteries in his fuzzfaces. Probably from one specific branch.
