Should I trade ??

Post by othomas2 »

The other guitarist in the band I play with is looking to off load his marshall, and wondered if I wanted to trade my peavey classic 30 with his amp...

Should I jump at this trade... ? I think his amp is probably about a year old where as mine is virtually brand new... he's basically just wants a no gimmics simple to use amp...

anyone with any knowledge of this amp ?

Have you checked prices? Are they the same price? If that marshall is worth more and sounds good, I'd say go for it.

Given that the Marshall goes for three times the price of the classic 30, I'd say take his hand off at the elbow.

Unless you're looking to make a quick buck, give it a proper go with your own gear. It might have more channels and shit, but if it ain't "working", you'll regret it.

Gareth has that amp.

Clean channel is nice.
Crunch sounds weak.
Lead is over gained.

I don't think it's a great amp. Classic 30 would be my choice if given the two.

TSL601s have appalling resale also. Second hand they're worth the same or less than a second hand Classic 30.

Avoid. Your friend is trying to fuck you.

O.k. cheers for the info... tbh I'm very content with the classic 30 so I'll stick with it. It has really come to life when cranked up to a decent volume.

I can assure you though mike, he's not trying to fuck me over... he's pretty laid back & is just lookin' to plug in and play, as he's fairly impatient when it comes to gear... we mutually came to a discussion about trading, and it was probably I that raised the subject if at all. He's been using it at the rehearsals so I've heard it, and also tried it briefly yesterday with my own gear... nothing wrong with the amp.

I'm just saying - the resale price on them is not equal. Regardless of teh quality of each amp - the classic 30 is now worth more than the TSL601

I would also take the classic 30, but that's due to my soundz.
