Favourite Pedal Manufacturers
Who gets your nod?
I really like what Brian Wampler of IndyGuitarist comes up with. Just classic sounding overdrives and distortions based on the key staples of the big Vox and Marshall sounds, but he uses original designs and I think the aesthetics of his pedals are wonderful also. That combined with the fact that he seems like a top guy (nice frequent mailouts, free content on his site with regard to mods and such) make him a bit of a winner in my book.
His stuff isn't cheap, but it sounds very nice.
This new Vox style overdrive sounds like a winner

I guess the most impressed I've been with a single pedal recently is the new Blackstar HT-Dual I got...it sounds amazing, and I have read nothing but good things about them.
Over time, have probably had more EHX pedals on my board than anything else, and I think that they are probably my favourite "big" company.
Dwarfcraft have to get a shout - is bloody impressive and if I were in a different kind of band I'd be placing quite a few orders with our old pal.
In terms of aesthetics, Zvex get my vote.
But my most used pedal...probably my simple Guyatone MD-3.

Proco.
Their pedals all have great bypass, are completely indestructible and are just so musically useful. No other pedal sounds like a RAT. I've loved every one I've owned so far.
EDIT: they're also affordable - big plus point. Zvex pedals look cool but at their price point, not that collectable unless you're a serious professional musician.

Wampler is indeed the coolest guy ever. When I ever get around to building a DS-1 I'm basing it on his tube-emu mod. When I contacted him about buying just that single mod he wrote back and just gave it to me for free along with a few others. Awesome, awesome guy.

Devi seems to be a really controversial character. It's mental how wound up people can get by someone doing something they love, especially if it's a woman.
I love the designs on those pedals, they're beautiful.
My old pal Aen is obviously my chief inspiration in picking up a soldering iron. His idea with the Boosters was genius and got me into this game.

+1 to Cowbell
That said, I like MXR's build quality and over all stompieness (Mike's falls into that since his is built in a similar manner). Effector 13 has some cool pedals. Moollon, for quality and looks.
Not to blow too much sunshine Aen's ass, but I really give him credt for (and the reason that I like his stuff so much) not just trying to make the creamiest smoothest fuzz out there. So damn many indie guys are stuck on boot, mid boost and fuzz. Dwarfcraft just wrecks shit, and makes new sounds in ways that no one are doing. New. Not 60's rehash in a fancier enclosure. New.

I like the Lastgasp Art Labs stuff I've heard, and really dig my Rattle Crow, but haven't been able to justify £150+ on the oscillating fuzz.
Basic as they are, I really like MXR/Dunlop pedals- the Dist+, Supercomp, Graphic EQ with a stomper on. Really simple and useful, plus they're a perfect size.

Build yourself a Fuzz Factory if you want a cheaper Oscillating Fuzz. Having seen the work you did on your MXR Dist+ I'm sure you can do it. I can give you all the info you need if you're interested.timhulio wrote:I like the Lastgasp Art Labs stuff I've heard, and really dig my Rattle Crow, but haven't been able to justify £150+ on the oscillating fuzz.
