Which hardcase for a mustang?

Post by James »

I don't want to splash the big bucks on a vintage one, but I want the vintage type. Thin fender style and basically as small as it can be but still a rectangle. Is there anything specific to get or is it just an ebay job? I could take the guitar to town and see what the guitar shops had. Last time I went none of them had even heard of an amp jewel let alone stocked any and parts that aren't for a strat or tele are basically unheard of, so I don't see anything but the most basic cases being on offer at not a penny less than rrp so I don't think it'll be worthwhile other than getting to try the guitar in the case.

I don't have the money yet so no rush.

I just use one of the universal rectangle cases from MF. There's a little extra room all the way around, but it's nice for a folded up strap and a couple small pedals wrapped in a t-shirt. I've never seen any small rectangle cases for mustangs.

I had one of those tweed ones, it was aftermarket new, made to look vintage, I paid like $40-$50 for it, it worked fine.

You want a proper case with plush velvet and a pocket, the guitar sits on angle. MM cases sometimes come up on ebay.

You can get a case on ebay for like 100 bucks at the most, I've been thinking of building one, just so I don't have to hassle with ebay and prices, plus I can make it as cool a I want.
If you think of god as a pair of pants, a spiritualist thinks he needs pants, in fact he wants pants but none of the conventional types of pants seem to fit just right, so he makes his own pants and is happy that his knees are no longer cold.-fibus

I had one of those too and it stunk on the inside. I don't know what it was, but man it smelled like shit.

James - Get a new Fender case for the Mustang, they still make them..................... just as I wrote that I checked myself (and few sites) and they were not available, but did find them HERE.
I know Musicians friend had them once because I ordered three at one time, looks like they're not even listed now.
I dug around at a used guitar shop once and found a used Ibanez case that fit the Mustang perfectly. The guy let me have it for 20 bucks, so maybe theres a place near you that would let you
do the same?

That's the sort of thing I'm hoping for. I might take it in next time I have some money and see what's available.
