Fuzz Factory clone
Moderated By: mods
The hardest bit now is deciding what to build next. I might hold off on the fuzz factory and order a load of parts for 2-4 more pedals, and get the extra resistor for the FF when I do that. I'll possibly wire two 100k ones in series as a temporary fix and end up leaving it there.
All of the ones I'm doing now are some form of dirt. Part of the problem is I want to build lots of things but I don't actually need them and I don't think they're well made enough to sell.

I have some already I just don't know how to use it. I'mgoing to do these ones just to convince myself I can actually do it and then I'll be more picky about what I actually build.I suppose other than the odd IC chip most things use a lot of the same components so I should just stock up on the common stuff and go from there. I already have 6 spare 2n3904 transistors just because so many things seem to use them and judging from the mammoth they sound good.
Actually what I should do is start designing stuff. It'll obviously be loosely (read: almost entirely) based on other pedals to begin with, but it's got to be the way to have the most fun with this.

I maded the fuzz factory mock up that I posted earlier, but i don't have AC128's, so I used 2N3906 until I can find some AC128's, I'm not sure what they would do in place of what I used. I also didn't have a 5K resistor so I used a 4.7k, It works!!!! Sounds nice and fuzzy, I couldn't find any short shaft pots so I'll have to cut these off with my dremel, I'll start on the bullshit plastic housing tomorrow, I ran out of solder. or I'd put it all together tonight.
My etching of the board turned out bad, so I made sure not to trust the copper that was there and made everything touch, so it looks a bit sloppy, and I don't care. It works, and I'm not Mike/Aen. Sorry for the highjack James, just thought I'd share how mine turned out, and we can compair tonez.

If you think of god as a pair of pants, a spiritualist thinks he needs pants, in fact he wants pants but none of the conventional types of pants seem to fit just right, so he makes his own pants and is happy that his knees are no longer cold.-fibus

The Germaniums will sound better, more full and less fizzy. But it's up to you, if you like it how it is then leave it. If you're getting AC128s get matched "Fuzz Face" set.More Cowbell wrote:Anyone know if it would be worth swapping out the 2N3906's with AC128 GERMANIUMs? What kind of change in tonez/sondz would it have?
