Maple fretboards ftw
Sunbursts are very odd, imo, they have to look excellent and they have to be either classy or all vintagey fucked up looking.
If you think of god as a pair of pants, a spiritualist thinks he needs pants, in fact he wants pants but none of the conventional types of pants seem to fit just right, so he makes his own pants and is happy that his knees are no longer cold.-fibus

I love sunbursts on jags, jazzmasters, and strats, but I really prefer whatever the shade of blue mike's mustang is, it's sexy :)

I still really really wanna see what a Green Burst Mustang would look like with a black pickguard though :D

You're so completely wrong I would have to remove your brain for you to understand it.

The '65 looks like panned shit with white covers. You need CONTRAST.

One of the local shops has a Gibson Art and Historic ES-175 in sunburst. After seeing that, every other sunburst looks terrible.
I need to get a picture or something - it's by far the best executed sunburst I've ever seen.

+1. No dice. I tried black on mine and it was cool and all but I like how the white stands out. I need white ustang switches though.

i guess my issue really is-----
i think having more than 2 or 3 sunbursts gets old
when there are so many cool colors
anyway enough whining
i guess you don't play the color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would have given up already if it wasn't for the impending revolution!

I just realised every guitar I own is on the red side of things.

The jaguar is sunburst with a red tort guard.
The jazzmaster is red with a subtle burst.
The strat is sparkle red.
The Ibanez is tobacco burst, not red but brown is in the same ballpark.

The only non-red guitar I have is the awesome cheapo burswood travel guitar (as rocked at doogfest!), which is black.

I like sunburst on jags, but not on anything else really, I can't see myself getting another sunburst guitar.

I feel the same way. Three of my five guitars are sunburst. The others are natural and wine burst. I didn't even realise that it was so boring until I came here.

Sunburst is my least favorite guitar color, because it looks like bare wood (the ugliest thing to make anything out of btw, I want to paint all the trees in the park daphne)... but with a ring of shit around it.

It looks sorta alright with a gold guard to distract from it.

BUT WAIT.

I forgot about my cheapo acoustic, which I think actually looks decent in sunburst, but only because it's so ugly, and maybe the pickguard shape.

If they'd had one in daphne, I might have got it but might not, cause this plays AWESOME.
