If you're buying it new, it will likely come with 9's. I'm pretty sure that's what Fender puts on them, and most guitar stores string them up that way.

Regardless, you should be fine. I put 13's on mine recently, and I've had no problems at all with it.

EDIT: I just read your other post about trading your g-dec for it. Forget what I said about the factory strings.

No problem. Have fun with the Jagmaster. It's a great guitar for the price period.

Truss rod maybe - I've seen a lot of new guitars that come with the truss rod totally loose. Tightening it isn't usually difficult. Google instructions and remember: NEVER FORCE IT.

Play it first. Then Change strings. Then post here about any problems such as buzzing, Notes going sharp, etc.

Don't fix it if ain't broke. Just put them strangs on and give it a go.

Surely going up from 09s to 10s will yank the bridge up :?: - would you not have to adjust the trem springs?

That's a genuine question, not smart arse rhetoric.

maybe not, it all depends on how its setup with 9's
the "correct" way to set up a strat trem is to have 2-3 mms of lift on the back end of the bridge so its in a sort of "floating like" state.
alot of the time people just crank down till it hits the body tho.

Yeah well, interesting you say that. When i changed 9s for 10s on my strat initially it yanked the bridge up at an odd angle which i corrected by screwing the claw uh screws in further (is this the right way to solve it?) so it was back to floating in the manner you say. However, im currently wanting to replace the 9s on my Jag with 11s and was wondering if I would need the neck adjusted to compensate and whether, again, I would have to adjust the tension of the trem springs.

Any help appreciated!

you'll need to tighten up the screw in the trem plate a bit, the neck may not need the ajustment, i know with my american, i got it with 9's and when i put 11's on it the neck stayed exactly the same.
power of good flat sawn maple i suppose.
but once i moved up to 12's i did tweak the neck a bit, but not by much at all.

I think that by "Jag" Jamieb meant the Jagmaster.
