Moon on a fucking stick.

There is plenty there for you to make your mind up. Cowbell's demo is comprehensive.

Hahaha. We once sent a rather demanding manager at work a cut out moon on a ice lolly stick in internal post for christmas. We chuckled.

You should look into Gretsch. I only know of the brian setzer siggy series (circa 01) guitar that I play on a regular basis, but they're great for rock. Im not sure how the electromatic hollow bodies are, but the 2k+ Gretschs are amazing. That being said I'm probably buying a telecaster or a jazzmaster for my next guitar, because the 'trons just dont get enough treble. I hope I helped.

LoL, this is such a homer board for Fender. A semi-hollow advice thread and every other person mentions a Coronado .

WhenI played a load of vintage Fenders on Denmark St the Coronado was the one that played most how I like it. I'd still love to try a thin bodied ES175 type though.

I love my Coronado II, I played an elvis costello sig edition 335 and it sucked bad, ask bobac.

On the shortscalegeardemos account on youtube, I demo'd the behringer chorus pedal, Boss RV-2, and Orange crush amp with my coronado, if you want to hear more.

The greatest thing about the coronado is its an acoustic too, you can just play it unplugged and its nice and loud.

I'd say and Es335 is a poser semi hollow guitar, it sounds nice plugged in, but not much different than an LP or SG. Unplugged it sounds horrible.

As far as guitars go, A telecaster and Strat have been used in all genre of music, they can play anything really. So don't limit yourself to one certain sound, go to a music store and play some guitars!

A 335 is what a semi-hollow is supposed to sound like, it's not an archtop or acoustic. It's a Semi-hollow. Es-335 basically made that a category of guitar, so i don't know how you can consider it a poser "semi-hollow". It's the guitar that basically invented that style.

It sounds shit unplugged. Every guitar I have ever played that sounds shit unplugged, is shit plugged in.

My opinion is the ES335's are overrated like strats and tele's...they aren't gods of guitars. Thats like saying nothing can beat a 55 chevy or the model T. They are classics but being classic doesn't make it the best.

If you like the idea of a Coronado, but want hotter pickups, consider a Hagstrom Viking I.

hey baan012.
the GC in greencastle has a corondao 2, they have had it forever, used to be like 1,000.00 and one day i was like, wow thats cheap, and they jumped it to like 1800.00 the next week.
take a spin on that thing,.
it needs to be set up really bad and the binding on one side is falling off, but its worth a strum or two.

I believe I've given some advice in the past that was less than semi-hollow in nature.

The Casino would be a very good choice IMO - the new Epiphone ones are much nicer then they used to be.

Casinos effing rule. but hey, I own an epi dot studio. it is a GREAT guitar. stock. and it is like probably the cheapest semi-hollow you can find. just a little FYI, there are signifacant differences in construction between the ES-335, the DOT and the DOT Studio.

-DOT - Maple neck, Maple body, Maple laminate
-DOT Studio - Mahogany neck, Mahogany body, Maple laminate
-ES-335 - Mahogany neck, Maple body, some kinda Maple/Poplar/Maple laminate not sure though... rob(og)? jcyphe?
cogito ergo sum...thing or other...

yeah i was seriously considering the dot for a long time, and i've got beef with gibson anyways. . . i guess its still not out of the picture especially since it wont put a hole in my pocket. . . and im not experienced enough to be able to distinguish the difference between maple + mahogany etc etc. . . but thanks!

I've always wondered what the difference in tone between semi acoustic and solid bodies were. Is it a smile case of the semi's add bass and over all warmth to the amplified tone? I only really ask cos someone mentioned a thinline telecaster got it's name due to the tone being more thin than a regular solid version.
