Fender 59' Bassman RI ?

Post by soma89 »

I think i'm going to take the advice of those who recommended a bassman 59'. I tried one out yesterday and was really impressed. However i want to get it to drive more at slightly lower volumes, anybody know something i could get for it? Treble Booster? I like the sound of a treble booster but i have a feeling it might be a little too bright for my amp and future guitar (Tele).

Also, on a different note, I want to know if you could actually play bass on a bassman 59' RI? I've heard some people do but i don't wanna mess up the speaker or anything.

Probably better off with a clean boost that'll boost all/most of your guitar's frequencies, so you don't have to have uber harsh overdriven tones.

You should be fine running a bass through it- it's not gonna be putting out the extended low frequencies that a dedicated more modern bass amp will, so your speakers should be happy enough.

If I was you I would buy a cheaper and nicer sounding original Bassman from the 60's/70's. The Reissues are overpriced.

Also if you're looking for dirt you're looking at the wrong amp.

Are you talking about them head&cab bassmans? Are they even voiced the same as the 59' era tweed combos?

If you mean 'boxy' and 'overly middy' then no, they're voiced differently.
