MIDI/Piezo 1x Neodymium Humbucking Fender Jaguar Hardtail

Basically I've already got the bridge pickup, 99% of the small parts, the Graphtech Resomax Ghost Bridge, and the body. I have a full-body black pickguard (incorporates all of the control plates - think Jazzmaster) on the way because apparently tortoiseshell is getting hard to come by or something. Next up are the Ghost Hexpander/Acoustiphonic Preamps, a hollow aluminum 24" neck, black metric tailpiece studs (where the fuck can I find these?) and various misc parts, like a dual concentric stack pot for magnetic pickup (passive) volume/tone controls, a 1/4" jack, tone cap, a 9v battery harness... etc etc.

...oh I've seen those before.

Not something I would ever play, but for some reason I'm almost still glad that exists.

How much string pull does the neodymium thing give?

I don't know, it came in the mail yesterday and I haven't installed it in anything yet. I've heard they pull quite a lot, which is why I'm only using one pickup in the bridge position for now.

This looks a great project. How are you going to drill/mount the 13-pin midi out? And did you get a good deal on the Graphtech Ghost stuff? In my necks of the woods the full kit comes in at £300!

I'm not sure if I'm going to mount it to the bottom of the guitar and carve some room, or mount it to the pickguard alongside the 1/4" jack. I still have to order the preamp that comes with that stuff.

The bridge cost $200cdn, and the Preamp with all of the extras will be either $275 for just the Hexpander, or close to $400 for both the hexpander and the acoustiphonic, but I'm not sure if I really want the acoustiphonic or not.

I've contacted - http://www.baileycustomguitar.com/index.html - and he's more than willing to help me out, but I've been in touch with the builder of this Strat - http://gretschpages.com/forum/other-gui ... 459/page1/ - in an attempt to contact the builder of his neck because he sold me on it in the description.

Hollow or solid? Did you go through with it?

I saw a really nice Jazzmaster with a aluminum neck by Bailey on ebay once.

Let me see if I can find the pic.

Yeah, that's what this Jaguar will end up looking like - black guard and everything, except Old Candy Apple Red. Here's another picture of it from Bailey's main site.

Do you recall how much it sold for on eBay?

I sent Bailey an email describing what I want. I'll probably have to send him the neck from one of my Jaguar HH's to model it from, but I'll need the fretboard radius changed from 7.25" or 9.85" to 12" to match the saddles on my Resomax bridge. (I think my OCR HH neck is 7.25", whereas my GMB HH neck is 9.85" like it's supposed to be.)

Quick, Somebody tell me the size of frets on CIJ Fender Jags and whether or not I should be thinking about getting the same size fret wire on an aluminum neck!

I can't remeber if the whole guitar was for sale or just the neck. I do vaguely remember a Bailey neck selling on eBay for $350-400. But this was months ago, and I'm not 100% sure.

Did you consider getting stainless steel frets?

Yes. One of my questions to him was "what material are your frets and what size do you use?"

P.S. After I'm done using my other OCR Jaguar HH to make templates and stuff for this one, the old one'll be for sale. So if anyone wants an OCR Jag HH after this let me know.

I like the look of that pickup--not the acrylic, but the wrap direction. What does that do to the sound?
