OMFG MIM Jazzmaster review

Post by aen »

FInally took a road trip and got my hands on one today.

I HAVE NEVER FELT ANYTHING LIKE IT.

Begin stream of consciousness raving:

It feels SO ROCK SOLID, and tight, like it was carved from a single piece of wood. Even with the guilded angel hair Fender puts on their guitars. A wonderful weight, not too light like a Dano, so it feels cheap, not achingly heavy like my CIJ. Neck is like a sex-stick. Im a glossy neck ind of guy, and it was glossy. It looks like, I dont know, it looks amazing, obviously. Trem is smooth but not sloppy, just the right amount of pressure required, LIKE A SLIGHTLY NAUGHTY SEXUAL ENCOUNTER. The strigns didnt seem to stick or anything, awesome.

The TOM is quite the addition. I tell you true, sai, I hit this thing as hard as I could without entering the Freakout Fog, and stuck stayed the strings. The sound was unmistakeably jazzmastery. Behind the bridge rang sympathetically, and plucking there was audible through the bridge pickup.

The general sound seemed quite nice, although I was playing it through an amp that apparently, sucks. this supersonic or whatever? Man, F that amp. it sounds nuetered. Anyway, I'm goign to have to try it through a proper amp before I give an official yay or nay on the pickups, but compared to pickups I was famliar with through the afformentioned Shit amp, it shouldl sound dead sexy.

Seriously, I can vaguely remember playing an AVRI a few years back, and the MIM jazzmaster beats the pants off it.

I really want to try one of these MIM jazzies, but I've only seen the Jaguars for sale around here.

Hopefully they'll soon start selling them in more colours, other than boring black and snooze sunburst.

haha, cafelols (it has free wifi, ok), you are like the master of channeling excitement via interweb. fender should seriously pay you to demo this guitar for them. just show them your shiva video if they don't think you can do it.

True, it does look hawt. But wouldn't it be cool if it came in some of the classic Fender custom colours?

Srsly. The jag was a real disappointment though, because 9s on a shortscale just sounds like electric spaghetti in a turd factory.

Why does Fender do that? I can't play in tune with 9s or 10s on a Shortscale guitar.

I checked one out a few weeks ago. Sounded great, felt great. Not really a JM guy, but it seemed quite nice overall. It was too heavy for me to totally dig, though*.

*disclaimer: my heaviest guitar is 6.5 lbs.
