Yeah, so I went to the Nakwon market to buy a nice used resonite Yamaha Clarinet (decided it was going to be my next instrument to attempt to learn), and went over to see my friend Choongwon at a shop down the hall, who had a nice LP 7 Stringer among a heap of early 2000s NOS Epiphone Dots. Played it, dug it even with rusty strings, asked him to confirm the $400 price tag, and he said "If you really want it, I give it to you for $225". Boom...$225, Dame soft case included. I had an '80s LP Custom that I didn't like at all about 10 years ago, but this is a different creature altogether.
NOS Saein(R.I.P. sniffle sniffle) factory-made dated 2000 in a burst I can't quite put my finger on: Honeyburst? Tangerine?...It's easier on my eyes than a traditional cherry burst, and the back is definitely a transparent orangey deal. P'ups are bright and klangy, neck is huge, plastic still on the guard, hardly a scratch to be found, very nicely finished. Weight is about 8.5lbs, but with the bigger neck it doesn't feel too bad, balance wise. I wanted a 7-stringer way back to add lower chunks to my wannabe shoegazing soundscapes, but I'm finding the cleans are just as delightful, if not more so...
