Fairly bad Bassman Video

Post by Mike »

This just made me laugh

1. That hair is atrocious
2. Says "Funny Story" and then doesn't tell a funny story
3. Talks a lot about bright switches. And there are no bright switches.

4. Talks SO MUCH
5. Talks about how it's the Amp changing the sound when he changed from the neck to a bridge pickup.

Dear Christ.

6. It's one of his favourite amps because the numbers are on the faceplate not the knobs.

Everyone knows this has a massive effect on the TONE

It's a Clean Transplant.

He says that four times and I have no idea what the fuck he means.

The thing with the jacks, my understanding is that it has some switching thing going on to reduce noise when you're not plugged in. There's a resistor between the two jacks to cut the noise on theone you're not using when you turn that channel up. Using channel 2alone puts that resistor in the circuit and you get a slightly quieter tone.

I've explained that terribly, but basically it's a by-product of the design not the aim. I think I showed that part of it at doogfest and the difference is very slight.

I should do a demo video of the Bassman with various dirt pedals. I'll have to find a way of actually recording the video first but it should be doable.

Close mic'd audio sync'd later with a video source. You can use a shit webcam or a phone.

i've done both. If your secondary source has both audio and video you can slice the audio out when you're playing and leave it for your chatter like Zaphod and I do.
It's soul destroying but it makes videos PRO.

That reminds me of why I haven't tried it yet. My soundcard was spannered last time I tried to record using it. I'll try and set something up tomorrow. I think I could use the XLR input on my 4track for a preamp than a monitor out into the line in. I need to sort something to do a Pixies cover anyway so I may as well try it.

You need to get an Audio Interface mate, they're dead cheap these days - no excuse for a recordist yourself not having something half-decent or at least USABLE.

I KNOW THIS GUY....

He works at the Guitar Center in San Marcos and goes by the name FLOCK due to the Flock of Seagulls thing he has going on. He also always talks about his bassman....

That is hilarious....

He is a nice guy but a little out there.

He sold me the T-Rex delay that James now has.

We can get you , me, DOTS, Chico, St Jimmy, Processed meat man, and Dogma hollow all together. If we work really hard, we might even be able to get more than 2 of us together at anyone (non ALBQ) time.

yeah, he's hooked me up a few times and has always been very cool but when he starts trying to tell me why one product is better than another, i just choose to ignore him.
