New amp :)
Yeah, I finally got the Crate V-50 today and I realllllllllllllllllllly like it, I haven't really been able to push it past anything more than bedroom volume yet, but sometime later I hopefully will.
The thing is fucking awesome, and for only 225$ (taxes included).
Pics are VIA my dads cell phone camera
haven't done a demo yet...I might later.
My DS-1 and EHX Double Muff are the 2 pedals on the top....couldn't find the flanger then..

I don't know the Canadian laws but i'm fairly certain that would be illegal in England. There might be some small print about valves not being covered because they wear out, but 2 days isn't at all reasonable and even a mobile phone company wouldn't be able to fob you off that easily.ultraviolence wrote:power...I've been waiting over a minute while the tubes are on standby and all....Fucking annoyed cause the store doesn't have any guarantee on Crate amps...apparently crate doesn't do Guarantee's with stores anymore.Doog wrote:Preamp or poweramp?

I was the only one that tried it, when I went there to try it out they had to take it from the back and bring it to the floor, then I put a 50$ deposit on it so my mom could take me to pick it up the next day...Sloan wrote:fuck, they should replace the t00b. asshats.
did it ship with tubes or was a demo model?
and it's really fucking annoying cause I went the extra damn mile with this thing and waited like 2-3 minutes most times before switching from standby to on.
What do you think I should do?James wrote:I don't know the Canadian laws but i'm fairly certain that would be illegal in England. I have to wait for my mom to take me to the store anyways, she's usually good at yelling at people and usually after an hour of yelling at them she gets what she wants .... Fucking pissed cause this pretty much costed me my whole damn paycheck on it...so I really can't afford the 50$ for a new tube + biasing + installation :/
you think I should just scrape some more cash up pay for a tube, and then crate will send me a new set of tubes for my amp so this way I can have a full set of tubes in case the fucking thing acts up again.
it actually happened right when I switched off my double muffaen wrote:I bet your DS-1 is to blame.

I gotta hit Italmelodie tomorrow BAD!
did you see any V33 HEADS?
I know the 118 212 was also 199
don't recall seing any 33's (112, 212, cab, or head) on the floor...
they had a MG halfstack for 399 but I hear the whole MG series is fucking trash... everything there is quite cheaper than steve's
Even with doing the whole standby thing a tube shouldn't have blown after 2 days. Most tubes were designed for use in radio broadcasts for hours on end at 2-3 times amp voltages. The store is probably aware that those amps ship with the cheapest of cheap non-matched Chinese tubes. I'm sure if you make a stink they'll give you a pair of Sovteks for free or at least cheap. Make sure you get something from Russia, Slovakia, or (best quality) NOS USSR.
Have a quick look into Canadian consumer law. You bouht an electrical appliance and that should give you at least 1 years guarantee. A lot of things in the UK are actually covered for 6 years (where it is reasonable to expect that length of life) through the law but standard warranties only cover 1 year. Arm yourself with the facts, then ring them up and explain the situation. If they say "there is no warranty on crate" in the store, the law should still take priority over that but it might not. If they have nothing advertised clearly in the store or on paperwork you signed when you bought the amp, the law will absolutely be in charge and you should be entitled to a refund, replacement or repair.ultraviolence wrote:What do you think I should do?James wrote:I don't know the Canadian laws but i'm fairly certain that would be illegal in England. You have an implied warranty through the fact they sold it to you, and the tubes are reasonably expected to last longer than two days, so you are covered. The question two below about premature wear mentions the reasonable use term of merchantability.
Althouhg I searched Canada I think that's actually an American site. The law is different to England but similar in terms of the reasonable use coverage. I'll try and find something more Canada specific.

This is the UK site run by the government. link
A similar site covering Canada would clear up your problem in a few minutes. Here are a couple I found that might be good enough to get your info from.
Consumers' Association of Canada
Consumer rights for Ontario (not sure how relevant that is)
