The video quality changes for some reason, my camera is a POS. The audio is the same though, SM57 close mic'd audio.

What kind of pickups did you stick in there?

How cool would it have been if Fender/Squier would have put out a Duo 2 with these features instead of the faux 50's one they released?

They were just CIJ '69 pickups I bought from The 'Burbz, a fellow shortscaler. I was mainly interested in them for the covers, but I like them plenty. I see no reason to change at the moment - sure they're low gain, and sure they're both fucking IDENTICAL (5.78K) because fender are knobs but they sound good to my ears, I'll know more when I play with the band next week.

My thoughts exactly. Nothing against the classic duo, but the Duo II is far to dope to not have some sort of reissue.

Interesting... I hated the stock pickups in my '69 RI. They weren't in there long before I swapped them out. However, I'm starting to hate the new ones I put in (Lace Sensors), so maybe I should revisit the stock pickups to verify that I wasn't just being delusional in my hate.

Cheers man, I was proper scared of doing the decal as I was sure I'd fuck it up, but it went ok.

it's not absolutely perfect, since today I noticed after it's dried that if you look closely you can see a couple small bubbles in the light, but I don't really mind, I think considering what a cackhanded fool I am that it came out good. Thanks so much for the body, this piece of wood is glorious.

I can't stop looking at it, or playing it, and I can't wait to crank it with the band.

i really didn;t do much at all, and in fact made more work for him in the long run.
a.) i didn't factor in the difference in bridge height/ pocket dept
b.) the guard was more brown tort than red tort, altho it was 5 ply which looks kinda cool from an angle.
c.) i fuct up the neck placement, there is a small bit of wood putting the neck farther from the bridge than normal, but the guard covers it up.
so all in all, mike may have been able to do a better job if he cut the thing himself, in fact, im sure that he could have done a better job.

I wouldn't know where to start. And the bridge height issue wasn't your problem, it was mine from the design perspective. I didn't think it through that a standard Mustang neck pocket wouldn't line up with a hardtail bridge. Also you couldn't just have made a more deep neckpocket anyway, we thought of that (and tried it), and what happens is that then the strings from the bridge make contact with the robroe covers unless they're flush with teh pickguard, which looks wank. We ended up putting back the wood we removed. It is cosmetically invisible as we did a careful job.

The spacers we put under the bridge work a treat and are practically invisible. You'd never know they were there unless I pointed it out. We need one more for it to be perfect but that's it.

The bit of wood in the neck pocket has never and would never be an issue, it's tiny and hidden by the scratch plate, it's a non issue.

As for the brown plate, I still have it and who knows, down the line it may get used if I change my mind or the finish of the guitar in the future. Regardless I won't sell it and I'm really happy with it, it's a fantastic piece of wood and it sounds great.
