The guitar cost £1150 do you think it's wort it for a 68 project? How much does a '68 nech cost if you can find one?

Does anyone have a spare under pickguard shield?

Do you think I need my gead examined?
That's pretty expensive for a project, and a B&B neck would set you back another chunk. The ultimate question is whether or not it's worth it to you. I know I've paid more then I should for stuff just because I wanted this one particular thing.
For that price, you could easily buy and upgrade a MIA Jaguar and have a fucking fantastic guitar instead of a heavily repaired old one. How much do you like MOJO?

Yes. Get rid. And listen to Hurb's clip comparision.

An old mess of a guitar is not worth £1150, when the CIJ versions sound so similar:

The reason i'm thinking of keeping it is the neck. It is awesome!! (2 exclamation mark awesome).

If I decided to send this back and do a project I'd want to buy a neck like this, so my main question is how much would it cost? I've been out of the game for a bit so I'm not sure how ebay relates to ACTUAL prices right now.

On ebay there's been a few old jag necks for BIN of around £950, so if it was going to cost me that much I'd be better off keeping the guitar I have and spending £100 bringing it up to speed.

I'm fairly sure that you could find a neck that good on a non vintage instrument and get the whole guitar for much less than that.

It sounds like a barmy plan to me, you must have more money than sense if you're willing to pay £950 on a guitar neck. You should be able to get a complete vintage guitar of your choice that you love for that money. It would be incredibly hard for you to complete a project scouting around for all the other parts, and that Jaguar you have is a write-off. Get shot.

Not to mention that with all the hand finishing back then even a neck made on the same day by the same guy could feel completely different.

Fuck no. You could import a genuine vintage non-dog for that sort of money. The shop wasn't in Cheltenham by any chance, was it?

I'm being a bit dumb because it's my "guitar I've always wanted" holy grail type thing. I've always wanted a vintage Jaguar. (I have 2 upgraded Japanese Jags and do love 'em)

Yeah I'll just take the refund and try to find one, or parts for one across the pond for a decent price.
that other blue one in your photo- did you have that up on ebay recently by any chance?

Nope. I've never sold a guitar on the bay, only bought 'em. I did buy it recently.

if it was within the past couple of months i think i saw it and thought "ooh, that's nice" but it was a tad pricey for me. there aren't many metallic blue jaguars on ebay, and that one stuck in my head because of the upgrades. although i've since forgotten what they are.

B&B necks are stupidly expensive, i remember seeing one for 200 bucks, and then the next 3 months another one for over 500.
and ever since then they have been 400.00 +

Yeah that'll most probably be the one I got '66 reissue B&B. It has had all the hardware replaced by US parts, the wiring is the correct cloth-covered and it has Vintage SD pickups. It came with the mute and bridge cover too. The bridge is a Mustang version. I got it for less than the price of an imported version plus it had all theupgrades.

I know, it's a bloody minefield. Tho I'd still jump at the chance to get a neck with dots and binding.

Assuming you mean the one I think you do, I'm sure they'd take an offer on that seeing as they've had it since I first went in that shop. Checking the site they say it's routed under the pickguard (doesn't say how exactly) and non original pickups, but if the neck is nice it'd be worth the money.

the LPB one looks nicer, and is cheaper too... strange that it's cheaper than the one that's been routed.

To me, it looks like Finish cracks in the clear not in the wood. My 96 Jag-Stang had them.

Yep, that's the one - they've had it since I had my Jag, so for at least three years. It looks lovely, but can't remember what it played like (so it can't have been a dog, at least). I'll let Dinosauria call them then go in and push up the price, Dr Spangle-style check it out for him.

I'm quite certain they had it when I bought my Telecaster from there which was 8 years ago. They've had it for at least 5.

It is clearly either haunted, cursed, or both.
