Are you actually serious?
The tubescream does the following.
Tinny and mid humpy to wooly and mid humpy overdrive.
Take any OD pedal with any form of EQ past a single tone control and it's already 10x as versatile as a tube screamer.

They always sound really fake to me. A Fuzz Face with the guitar's volume back does better crunch IMO.

You can't beat an old vintage ProCo Rat.
Orverdrive, Fuzzy, Boost....pretty much the only pedal (other than a Keeley TS9) that I've kept.

i cant stand them, i had a ts9 and returned it. then got a ts 808 for free from a friend and still don't like it. it thins your sound and kills it completely. as someone on here once said they are turd screamers.

Devi ever shoegazer is the best fucking pedal ever. it has distortion under one foot switch and fuzz factory fuzz under the other. I havent stepped on my cherished vintage big muff in over a week. The dirt pedal to end all dirt pedals

OLCircuits Mint Condition (Y.A.T.S.)
It's a Tube Screamer times two.

I've never played on but All the cool people hate them (for the guy from the silversun pickups, be has one of those 4 knob deluxe ones) so I'm going to jump on the blind hate bandwagon. anyway my amp has real tubes that scream plenty on their own

I had a Digitech Bad Monkey (tubescream with extra bass EQ knob).
Didn't like it - not gainy enough. The end.

I love the midrange hump of the tube screamers and I really only use mine as a clean boost to get a little dirt, but its one of my all time favorites.
I think it's a distinct pedal that's pretty versatile with a little tone stack eq'ing of your amp...or at least it is with mine.

it depends what sort of sound you're after. if you actually like your guitar to sound brittle and glassy tubescreamers can be quite handy. but they have no 'oomph' whatsoever, if you're looking for a versatile pedal with a decent amount of gain they're rubbish, but they have their uses (for me anyway).

I think the sansamp GT2 is great & pretty versatile.
Opinions are like arseholes though, we all one.
I think the original generation tube screamer could be better perhaps ?
I have the same vintage and modern ibanez effects pedal, and the difference is quite astonishing.
