7k all right on a Jag pickup (AVRI)?

Post by MattK »

Got an AVRI Jag pickup for $5.50 (!) and it arrived in good shape - I don't have time to install it now because I am moving house soon. I measured it as a quick check and it's a little over 7k. I thought they were meant to be about 5.5, is 7 a believable number?
After the comparison shootout the other week I had decided to use this to replace my thin-n-scratchy MIJ bridge pickup, is 7k too hot for this application?

Put it into the bridge and hold onto your hat.

thats crazy cheap, how'd you manage to get that deal?

anyway yes that is the correct output for AVRI Jag pickups (i used to own a pair). Jag pickups are/were overwound compared to strats or tele equivilents; it is in no way too hot! they sound great, stick it in and see.

eBay - it sat on five bucks for a long time, I bid 11 bucks with a few minutes to go and it got to $5.50. Seller was totally decent about it, even posted it from Canada to Australia for five bucks. I felt a little guilty but I promise to love it.
