there is a sage green one at the local music shop that i have been eye balling for a few years now.
and its kinda neat cuz the neck has a very subtle flame from end to end and a nice showing on the fretboard.

I love that color! Saw it on a used P bass once. If I could only find it again, I would've had myself an awesome sage green P bass by now.

My mim standard satin strat has, of all things, a fairly glossy necks. Infact its one of my favorite necks ive ever used. However I have played many mim standard strats/teles with necks that are terrible.

Usually finish is really satin-y. On some I played the frets didnt feel "finished," and it was just not very well made all in all. The pickups do sound like a nice old strat tone, because they're low output. Of course on mine, the neck feels almost as good as the mim classic series, or the american series.

Why not go vintage vibe squier?

I was talking about the strats. I bring this up, because all of the reviews ive read of the strats go on about how great they are as guitars all around.

You should try out that mim strat though, it could have a really nice neck on it.

there is a sage green strat with a flamey neck, good frets and the finish is decent too.
mo has seen it, he can confirm.

I'll be fair enough to chalk about 70% of this to personal taste, but...
I straight up hate the neck profile, fingerboard radius, and the way those two interact with the jumbo frets on MIM standard strats. I could go on all day and back in time 5 years or so on the subject.
Yeah some have bad fretwork and more/less satiny finishes from guitar to guitar, but even ignoring that, I just find the necks on those things super underwhelming. I'm not saying every MIM standard strat EVER has a sucky neck, but all the ones I've encountered in shops or that people who I know have owned were like that. You can do whatever you can do with one, but getting comfortable doing it is impossible for me.
You say "MIM standard" and I automatically think "lame neck", it's a character flaw, I know.

i love my mim strat. its an ocean turquoise from 1992 and the neck is amazing its worn in so perfectly and the pickups sound great.

ya know its really easy to make a satin neck glossy. just take a little finish polish and rub it on there. instant glossy neck.
