burst = cool
pearl = cool
together = ok, I agree it needs a solid white or black gaurd.

But I mean, what a guard is no more than 60, so still not a bad idea...

there's nothing ugly about it, and $615? fuck sake, that's ridiculously cheap.

why would you change the guard? while you're at it, stick some 'hot' pickups in there, just so it sounds like every other guitar in the world.

I would change the guard because like I said it's fucking ugly to me, our personal preference obviously differ, but I'm not going to sit there and try to be different with something I don't like.

for 615, i would live with the pearl guard as is.
altho on the same page, for that price you could get a vintage black guard and still be ahead.

I only like Sunburst on Jaguars, so I would much prefer a white, blue or red finish.

I love sunburst on any Fender. I do like the 70s uglyburst, esp with a black pickguard.

If only it had a rosewood board! I can't seem to get on with the maple as much (unless it's a V profile). That just might be the most 70s strat I've ever seen.

These ones are the big chunky necks that you also get on the Telecaster Deluxe. Best neck in the world ever.

Maple brings the spank, I likes it. Although not on Shortscales for some reason.

It's the feel of 'em I don't like. An old worn in one might be sweet.

Even my Tele had a rosewood board. I did have a Japanese 59 strat reissue with a maple board and V-profile, I'd highly recommend them. It sounded great I just prefer a more 'gritty' rosewoody feel under my dabs.

Cool vid Mike, I almost exclusively use the neck pickup, esp on my strat. The hum cancelling on the Jags with both pickups is handy though.

The pickguard on that mustang looks like a newer japanese one... all the early 70's mustangs I've seen had plain white gaurds. I could be mistaken, though.

In my opinion, white guards are ugly on sunburst. They just seem to clash with one another. I think the bursts look killer with a nice tort, though. Or black. But then again, every guitar looks better with a black pickguard. Except maybe Jazzmasters.

You're the ying to my yang, since I'm mainly a bridge pickup player. Gareth the lead singer and other guitarist in my band is a neck/both guy so we blend quite nicely, I think. I bring the bite, he brings the warmth.
