Paul Gilbert Reverse Iceman

Post by jcyphe »

People on Ibanez forums are calling these fireman(lolz) models.

Paul Gilbert made these in photoshop and Ibanez made him 2 prototypes. I think they're interesting.

I read about them in a recent Guitarist interview. Good to hear them.

I saw the single coil version somewhere recently, possibly also in a Guitar Magazine. I was'nt sure at first but i think i like them now, they sound great on this video and it was nice to see humble stompers being used as well (anyone notice what pedals he had on the board?). They look like a traditional good guitar, almost like a one off Gibson rather than full on Metal.
Paul Gilbert is an amazing guitar player too.

One of them looks like a TS9, i thought the yellow one was an early Dod 250 but it looks like it has four knobs after freezing the video.

I'm can only guess the Keeley modded TS9. Yellow pedal might be an Dunlop or MXR. Too yellow to be 250 I guess plus the extra knobs like you say.

hmm, I'd a dream last night I found a stack of weird pedals in the bin. odd.

I think I prefered the shape of the normal iceman.

I see a Fulltone Soulbender, A/DA Flanger, Some kind of green Ibanez probably a TS9dx, looks like it has 4 knobs? I believe the yellow pedal is an XOTIC AC Booster.

The fact that one of them is made out of 'poisonous' wood dosn't really sell it....

Bah. Korina is basically Mahogany I believe. Guitars are still made out of it.

Yeah so many great guitars have been made with Korina(limba), and most tonewoods are carcinogenic to people anyways. Some worst than others.

I'm gonna check these out.
Good point on that most hardwoods dust is carcinogenic, i thought that when he said it.

On the subject of other forums there is pretty much one for most leading brands, and the 'Dean' forum claims it is the biggest in the world :?

You are right Jcyphe, according to THIS it is a Keeley modded TS9DX along with the Xotic and Fulltone.

Just been reading about the Xotic stuff, the AC BB sounds good, £136.00 though  .

I could build you one for less than £80. It's a good sounding pedal but it's just a tweaked out Tubescreamer, like so many pedals of that ilk.

How much would you want to mod a TS mike? Like a keeley kind of spec with more gain and tonal range.
