Wiring Diagram - 2 buckers,3way,splits

Post by euan »

One thing I'm not good at is figuring out guitar wiring diagrams.

What I want is a three way switch, two tones and master volume all connected to two humbuckers. Positions of the switch should be:

1. Neck
2. Outer Coils of both humbuckers together
3. Bridge

I can figure out without the outer coils but not with. What am I forgetting? Or am I going to have to delve into the world of push pulls.

You're going to need to have push pull pots to split the buckers I think.

Yeah it was what I was thinking. But I'm pretty sure I've read about guitars that do that with a three way switch to get the "authentic" Strat sound.

Hmm. It must have a bunch of lugs so that you can reconnect the coils together in the "normal" positions.

I'm not even sure what the nomenclature of such a switch would be.

Yeah I knows. I'll search around when I get home. I've got a busy day at work today.

if you used a fender style 3-way switch you could do it without the push/pull pots.

I think it can be done with a three-way on/on/on switch like one one of THESE.

Fuck me. £29 quid for a switch.

Split coils in the middle position doesn't mean so much.
