Been thinking of upgrading my CIJ pups for ages now, seem to be shit loads of options out there AVRI various Seymour Duncans & Cutis Novaks to name few. I'd be interested to hear your suggestions, basically I'm looking for something inbetween the originals & the more contempory/hot seymour duncans. My mate has an original JM from 59 which sounds a bit dark & wooly to me & some of the SD's sound a bit too much rock for my taste, what would you guys suggest as a happy medium somewhere in the middle? I'm fairly happy with the stock pups although i'd like a little more volume & characther from them.
cheers

Re: Jazzmaster Pups - upgrade
I've got a made in Japan Jazzmaster and have had it for about 12 years. Having recently returned to playing guitar I decided to upgrade the pups and went for the Seymour Duncan Hot SJM-2 on the neck and the SJM-3 Quarter Pound on the bridge. Boy what a difference. Can be mellow when required and kick ass when required.Johno wrote:Been thinking of upgrading my CIJ pups for ages now, seem to be shit loads of options out there AVRI various Seymour Duncans & Cutis Novaks to name few. My local guitar store did the upgrade for me and when I picked it up they commented that they thought it wiped the floor with the Jazzmasters they had in stock.
I've not been disappointed.
Finally, when I was trying to decide which pickups to go for I came across a Jazzmaster playing guy on Youtube who has several Jazzmasters with different pickups. Here's one of his clips...check him out it might help...
My favs and I have tried a few. Are the SD Antiquity II's
