Looks abit like one of those Top Twenty/Woolworths guitars. Don't expect too much, but at least you get a proper humbucker.

Oh yes, so is that other one. They use the same el cheapo parts and may or may not have been made at the same factory. This type of guitar had a bunch of different import brands stamped on em and were sold cheaply through catalogs and Woolworths.

Woolworth is an old department store in america similar to Montgomery Ward or Sears. they were all known to sell cheap import guitars.

you could probably replace "woolworth" with whatever department store you have in norway.
factories in japan would crank these things out and put various brand names on them. then department stores in the west would sell them.

Maya are actually quite good "lawsuit" guitars, MIJ in the 60s and 70s IIRC. the fender clones are REALLY dead-on, the gibbys not THAT much.
great stuff, i believe these were made in the ibanez factory and came out under all kinds of names like -well ibanez and/or maya- greco, el dégas, hondo, aria, etc. etc.

cool!

Here's a link to the only 'lawsuit' Maya guitar I could find a pic of on t'internet:
http://www.pksmusic.com.au/showProduct/MMC

It's a half-decent Marauder copy, but looking at the quality and hardware it's fair to say it's not the same brand as this chap's 'Maia' guitar.

i grew up in switzerland and EVERYBODY had these Maya, Tokai and/or Hondo "lawsuit" guitars. they've now got a quite loyal following.
a friend of mine is selling this ES-335 copy for around $150:

i might --- might--- get it, though i do already have an ES-345 ripoff from the same factory ("El Dégas" brand).

still nice, and some of them have the coveted Ibanez Super 70 pickups (mine hasn't but it RULES, still).

My mate got given the bass version of that Maya SG clone thing for free a while back. It wasn't great but it was obviously cheaply made.

I'm pretty sure his had stickers all over it too.... :?
Mustang. Isn't it.
