Noname JM trem from guitar parts resurce, HWY1 strat neck also noname Tune-o-matic bridge and GENUINE fancy jazzmaster toggle.

WRHP! 69 thinline pickup and bridge from Mr. Mustache neck from early 90s MIM standard. FANCY switch from ALLPARTS!

I also have the pots and jacks, but I have like 300 pots and 200 jacks, so er, I am bored of them and do not take pixors.

welllll, I got the body for the JM on halloween, and Ive already ruined it! First I bought a shitty trem unit wiht no locking mechanism. Then I broke a drill bit off doing one of the holes for said trem. Then I lined it up wrong so the fucker grinds against the body instead of moving the tailpiece. Then when I lined it up again, I used a dril bit that was too large so the screws fall right in!

Aaaaaand I selected a Tune-o-matic bridge to avoid the string popping that plagues me on Jms and Jags. Unfortunately, when its mounted, the action is unbelievably high, so I have to cut out some pickguard or something, or ge a mustang bridge and a buzz stop, I dont know, Im so fucking pissed right now.

Really not looking forward to plugging all the extras fucking holes adn sanding again, much less buying new parts, much less chopping up the pickguard.

that sucks.....
do you have a scroll saw?
if so you could cut the guard out really easily to get lower action.
just fill the trem scre holes with tooth picks and try again, it'll work.
i know you has the skills!

ugh, thanks. I think my stepdad has a band saw at least. But i think I'm going to just go the mustang bridge path. I don't think the 1/8" that cutting the guard will give me will be enough :cry:

where'd you get yr JM body? I've been collecting parts for that jagmaster project (a neck, pickguard and pickup covers so far) and the more I think about it, it just seems dumb to buy a jagmaster for $250 when all I want is the body when I could just build a real fucking jazzmaster.

I got the body form Robert Origami.

Anyway, I took some pixors, sold Sublimedo a pedal and ordered some new parts.


Here it is with the parts plopped in the body-

SO theres the trick of lining up the neck mounting holes. What I did first is measeure the distance form the heel of the neck to the bottom screwhole.

Then I measured that distance from the bottom of the cavity in thebody.

Then all I did was line up the neck plate in the cavity, mark it and drill!

I sanded it down and started clear coating. This product is supposed to "seal and protect" so I didnt use any grain filler or sealer or anything. It's kind of supposed to be a 70's looking thing. Does not look like this:

Coats are drying out in like 45 minutes, so I sand em down real quick and put another coat on and it gets a little smoother every time. Things are looking good for Mr Master, I ordered an avri trem and mustang bridge and a buzz stop, too. Fuck off buzz stop haters. I HIT THE GUITAR HARDER THAN YOU SO YEAH, ITS PRETTY IMPORTANT TO HAVE A BUZZ STOP.

For some reason this thread makes me really want to make a floor guitar, with everything mounted on the floor. Entirely unplayable, but it'd be cool looking or something.

i've thought about that before.
making a lap-steel that's mounted into the wall, so that it uses your entire house as the body. THINK OF THE SUSTAIN.
