Gibson Melody Maker Reissue!

Post by JordanD »

Has anybody else seen one of these? I played one in Dawsons Manchester and really fell in love with it, and at less than 300 quid who can complain?!

Seems an awful lot of money for virtually no guitar. If it plays well I'm sure that's more by accident than design.

hmm, you'd think in this day and age they'd have reissued the two pickup version.

I think they are cheap, considering Juniors are double that ammount and the garbage Epiphone Junior is only 200 quid cheaper i'd say its a steal. Its an effective design, what do you suggest they do? Stick loads of switches on them that do fuck all and charge more money for it?

looks pretty good except for the useless pickguard tab sticking out where a pickup should be... and that black finish one looks nasty imo

The Joan Jett one is tits. I'm not a huge fan of the standard reissue.

They play good and feel good, they just look SO UGLY. And it feels weird to pay $400 for a guitar that looks like it was spraypainted by tribi9.

again the paint issue.

why did they paint these things with fucking house paint? it looks like shit. im not going to pay 400 dollars for a guitar that i have to spray coats of clear on before i pick it up to play it

also the neck feels like shit and the frets stick out

hahah its pretty much on par with a fucking guitar you get at Target or Toys R Us with GIBSON on the headstock

why do you think they sell it to you in a big orange box? to discourage you from actually putting it on before you buy it

i bought one a year ago and it was total shit
i sent it back
shitty feeling neck
bad electronics
horrible paint
sucky frets
gibson should be ashamed
i was ashamed for them
only guitar i have ever sent back on a purchase
I would have given up already if it wasn't for the impending revolution!

The shielding is awful as well - it buzzes like a beehive through an amp.

I never understood that aspect of guitars - a highly amplified block of wood with inductors in it and there's usually ZERO shielding, or partial shielding which is actually worse.
