So I'm thinking about learning about all the stuff that goes into putting a guitar together from parts, swapping things out, refinishing, etc. So I need some advice! First of all, what are the best resources (books, websites, etc) that I should make sure to refer to as I'm learning about it? And second (and more importantly!), what should I start with? My ideas right now are to find the ever-popular Squier 51 to mod, or else to just pick up a <$100 Squier strat from Craigslist and work on that (swap pups, refinish, maybe learn how to do new pots/etc). Or, would there be any value in considering something like an SX strat clone from www.rondomusic.com?
Thanks guys!
First project guitar...what should it be?
