I've called every guitar store that i know of in Montreal. None have ANY shortscales, besides the JAguar HH (jap one) and I didn't like it very much.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need 1 humbucker for my bands agressive punk style.
I just don't get this. I've never ever plugged in my tele, kicked on the big muff and thought "oh, gee, I wish this guitar were louder."
I'm serious here, why do peopple "need" humbuckers?

dudes, listen to these single coils. it's called "a sea of fists" and its thunderous. http://www.myspace.com/aenpage
No but when I plug a single coiled tele into an amp, put the distortion/OD on, I don't say "I wish this was louder" I say "holy fuck that buzz is fucking annoying"

Nah, I really don't wanna buy a black guitar (unless there was no PG), or a white one.

I have a thing for sunburst/tobacco burst...they all look the same to me sienna & green burst too....but green burst is only on a bunch of guitars that have gay ass Active EMG's.

Do the people on Shortscale.org like Schecters C-1 Classic, or C-1 Black Jack

Also a guitar store near my house has a cyclone...never seen one before but the guy says it's like a mustang with 3 pups, and apparently the person that sold it to the store modded it, it's also only like 575$
WOAH what? Where?

Cylcone II's are fucking stupid awesome.
Especially, if you're after craggly punk tones, which (by the way, sound much better when there's some pickup hiss in the mix) is sort of what I'm using it for. I got mine of the Sloan, up there and I fucking love that thing to little itty pieces.
GET IT OR REGRET IT FOREVER.

Nah, just ignore any advice you get and throw loads of money at a guitar with humbuckers. I'm sure it'll end up great.

Cyclones only ressemble mustangs.

I would say II's sound something like a jaguar cornholing a strat
If the whole single coil buzz is really a big problem for you, you'll be happy know that these are equiped with AVRI Jaguar pups that have the claws of sheildage AND if that's not enough, whenever any two pickups are engaged, they form a humbucker.

This is sweet shit and you LOVE IT

maybe you should play the guitar instead of listening to the buzz.

the thing is a lot of humbucker guitars are kind of one trick ponies. they do what they do really well. but the range of sounds you can get out of fender single coil guitars is just unmatched by anything else.

Well, if I go les paul I'd eventually get 2 brighter humbuckers (JB&Jazz combo) and get them coil tapped.

What I've always thought would be cool would be an HSH LP....dunno if it's ever been made before, or if it would even sound good, but it seems like a cool idea to me.

If I do get a les paul style does anyone know what I should get out of these choices?

Gibson Les Paul Vintage Mahogany (1,000 new)
Epiphone Les Paul Elitist (1,000 new)
Epiphone Les Paul Custom (729 new)
Epiphone Les Paul Standard (350 used)
Agile AL 3100 (450 used)
ESP LTD Deluxe EC 1000 (the one with the JB & Jazz stock pups...900$ new i think)

btw I am waiting an extra 2-3 weeks to try and see if the guitar stores will get any jags or mustangs in so I can try them out.

WTF. None of my single coil guitars hum with shit loads of distortion. Unless you take it into this sounds crap level of distortion and I'm running like 3 pedals all in one go at max gain.

Archambault (the one in front of Berri-UQAM metro) had several Jaguars in stock when I was there a few weeks ago, including a red single coil MIM one. I suspect that most of the guitar store knobs in Montreal don't even know that some Fender guitars are short scale, so your best bet might be to actually go to the store to see in person.

Where did you see the Cyclone II for sale? What colour was it? And what mods were done to it?

If you really want a Les Paul, I can sell you mine. It's a 1977 LP standard, cherry burst with plain top. The bridge pickup is a Dimarzio Super Distortion (awesome for Teh Rawk Tonez). Brass nut, tuners changed to Schallers. It has the worst buckle rash you'll ever see on any guitar.

I called archambault up like 2 weeks ago and they told me they had 0 jags & mustangs in all their stores, the dude could have just been an ass and lie to me though.

I live right next to Archambault. I'll be happy to go check for you on my way back from work tomorrow.

What's the reason why you can't order a classic player HH from one of these guys or buy one online again?
I remember having brought it up in some other thread...

But honnestly, at least go play that Cyclone.

i did.
I am interested in the classic player HH but I'm not the type of dude that wants to buy something before I play it.

Also, will there be much of a difference on the jag than on my jagmaster?

Astro the cyclone was sonic blue

I'm not too sure what kind of answer you're looking for here.

You'd all around, be getting a much better quality guitar, there's no question.

Whether it'll feel like an upgrade to you is really a matter of taste.
I'm pretty sure they fit those HH Jags with Dragster pickups which I find very underwhelming. Again, in terms of quality, they're a step up but you may end up liking the ones in the Jagmaster more - I did. The trem, the tuners and the electronics. all quality issues aside, is a very different and potentially initially confusing ballgame. One of the most flagrant manifestation of the quality jump between the two, I believe you'll find in the neck. Jaguar necks are superb, doesn't matter the year, doesn't matter the place of manufacture (except the HH Special). Your Jagmaster neck will twist and rot with shame.

If you don't end up getting one, you'll never be able to look at your Jagmaster again. ;)

I played the MIJ black/chrome jag at Steve's...the guitar sounded like crap to me... The sound reminded me kinda like a LP alot shittier. I'm guessing it was the pups. not really digging the black & chrome anyways. The feel wasn't too much different from my jagmaster, but I did prefer my jagmasters feel, maybe it was cause I like low action and the jags action wasn't really low? Either way I was less than impressed by that Jaguar.
