P-90's are single coils.

That's like saying lamb chops are one of your favourite fruits. They're not fruits, what the fuck is wrong with you?

They're single coils but they've got their own sound.

I probably should have put a + instead of a / there, I meant I love em both.

I love Hagstrom Viking pickups, cos they're mostly air:

Has anyone tried the lower-output Burstbuckers? Any good?

I like lipsticks, Jazzmaster pickups, this horrid strat bridge pickup in my mashup Hag III, and the hot p-90 type things in my Electrical.

lolz @ Hurb in this thread.

I disagree completely with the assertion that Humbuckers are "Versatile". They're not.
Coil tapping and Splitting just gives you a wanky inferior version of the far superior real fuckin' deal.

Singlecoil-sized Humbuckers leads to Humbuckers which leads to EMGs which leads to Pain & Suffering.

If you can't do it with Single Coils you should just stop. Some things they got right the first time.

wow, it sort of made me smirk to read how narrowminded some people here can be sometimes, maybe a thought i should keep for myself but i don't.

if you like you like, end. if they would put a guitar in your hands and you'd have no way of seeing or feeling what sorta pickups are in it and you like it, then the light goes on and it's humbuckers and you're a humbucker hater would you say the guitar is crap ? haha, i'm just not biased, some single coil guitars i loved, some i hated, same for humbucker guitars. good and bad ones in everything, i wouldn't let prejudice narrow my choice in guitars, ever.

We need to line up behind our allegiances and have a war.

There will be no fence sitters, people who can't decide between Single Coils and Humbuckers will be left in no-man's land and riddled with Fender Bullets (9s) from both sides.

It's not entirely serious.

Or Is It?

Has my opinion of everyone who uses Scumbag Buckers just dropped significantly? We Will Never Know.

not entirely serious lots of asshole-ing about in this thread just to asshole around which is just fine, but some shit gets boring after a certain amount of joking.

to me it's not an A vs. B thing, kinda silly.

To be fair, their are humbucker users and their are active humbucker users. Then the worst are the Invader users.

Honestly, you should. I get a feeling alot of people hate active pickups without even knowing why. This could give us all clearer ground uppon which to sew the seeds of HAET. ;)

I hate them because I've played them and they're godawful for cleans and medium gain, which I happen to use in my wussc0re songs.

Okay, what I meant is that I encourage you to do a demo of the EMGs because I'm weary of active pickups and I would't know how to tell them appart from regular pickups, from a aural standpoint.

Never played active pickups, I have no opinion of them really, I'd actually be interested in an EMG demo fran.

What are they like with fuzz?

Like Miek said, they dont clean up too well... although we are strictly talking humbuckers here. Dave Gilmour has used EMG singles for years on and off and everyone thinks his sound is great. Its one of them rofflez debates i think. Like everyone hating Floyd Roses then citing Tom Morello as a favourate guitarist.
