It def sounds like something's gone awry, especially if you're still getting it at low volume....

Nah, you want to stick some output-tastic shitters in there and be much more rock and roll.

Seriously tho, you're problem sounds like a wiring issue.

Just for reference, I don't give a shit about "vintage authenticity" or whatever the hell anyone wants to call it. I just think people need to do some more research before they buy instruments. If you buy a jag and then install high output P90s, a tune-o-matic bridge etc etc then you've bought the wronge fucking guitar!! A simple pup change is cool (the p90s sound lush) I just get annoyed when folk get annoyed by the very charecteristics that define the instrument they've bought.

The really cool thing about the Jag (imo) is the subtlety and variety of sounds you can produce with it. My reference to making it sound like every other guitar was probably more to do with people who buy a jag and a mustang bridge or TOM and stick some humbuckrs in there straight away, seriously what's the fucking point? Buy an HH MIM jag or someting.

btw If you're more worried abolut being "rock and roll" you're already a lost cause. The least rock and roll thing in existance is trying to be rock and roll.

a humbucker in a mustang is gonna sound alot different than a humbucker in a strat, that might be why people stick humbuckers in mustangs right away (besides from the KC reasons..)

Mustangs sound just great with single coils.
