The Vintage Time Machine will have the same Donald Pleasance in Fantastic Voyage switch as the VD-1 and will suck all the bite out of your tone while bypassed.

Probably true, it's not like it's not an easy fix though.

A bad bypass at that, from the sound of it.

The VP-1 modulation could be heard in bypass only when I used hi gain pedal in front or behind it - twas ok if i just used high gain on the amp. Maybe the sound was leaking via the shared power supply, and could be fixed by using batteries or it's own power adapter?

Also yes I'm sure duosonic is correct; the footswitch is just a cheap clicky thing that when depressed, presses a button on the circuit board.

No, like I said, it's because the effect is always hanging off your input signal, or it could be that a transistor isn't probably turned "off" in any electronic bypass circuitry.

You get a similar effect on the Boss SD-1

the most annoying part of sd-1 ownership.

is the vintage series bypass similar to the standard range bypass, if it's buffered?

I dunno, rather that throw around blazÃ© conjecture, I wouldn't like to comment until I've opened a Vintage Time Machine up or at least seen some gutshots, but y'know - that's just me.

I got a Boss RC20-XL looper recently and I noticed something similar.

The guitar sounds a bit different going through the pedal, even if the pedal isn't doing anything.

the boss rt-20 does that as well, a noticeable top end drop too when connected.

Maybe. At Â£53 it's a bit more of a head scratching purchase than it would be at Â£40. I will definitely try and hunt one down to play in Denmark St after they've been out a while.

I'm interested to see how good a job they've done. I have a latest EHX DMM which is the true bypass version.

The Vintage Delay is cheaper but it;s only 300ms. Check out my demo of it.

that's the reason i want to get one, it sounds wicked in your demo. the only sound i use is the "run like hell" dotted eigth style sound.

Found some pictures:

Small pics but I can see some things.

1. Those are real CoolAudio BBD Analog Delay chips on the face side of the board
2. SMD stuff on the reverse of the board, unsurprisingly.
3. The bypass uses a DPDT, clearly just output switching with an input buffer most likely.

The thing doesn't take up much room, I imagine we'll see people rehousing these and making them true bypass.

Indeed. As I recall the DMM board takes up pretty much the whole of the case.

I totally don't need another delay, but if I was in the market, I'd probably get you to do this for me Mike.
