Amp plan - opinions?

I was looking at the JC-77 a while back. I read a couple reviews that said it wasn't loud enough live, which may or may not be BS.

I had a guy sitting in with us for awhile who's main amp was a 100 watt tube Soldano with a 4x12. For smaller shows/venues he would use a jc 77. He liked the cleans so much that he eventually went to a jc120 and a/b'd it witht he overdrive on the Soldano for really big shows.

It totally depends ont he music you are playing. It will not hold up for a punk band or a metal band, but more mellow jazz, acoustic, blues, etc it should be OK.. Of course, it all depends on how loud the band plays. It still would not hurt to keep a mic and cable around for bigger shows....

I agree, I was just referring to the 60 or 77 watt SS version on the ROland JC120. 60-77 solid state watts may not be enough for a heavy band.

My 2 cents:
There's always a power soak if you have too much headroom, but it's hard to coax more out of an underpowered amp.
