New Acoustic...

Post by benwalker »

Thinking along the following lines..

I might die tomorrow - I might be hit by a bus or some other similar accident...

Soooooooooo..... rather than wait until I'm 50, where my fingers are so arthritic that playing smoke on the water hurts more than just my ears, I figured f*ck it -

Very, immensely, proud owner of a Fylde Alchemist - Cedar top, Walnut back/sides, rosewood binding, Mahogany/Walnut/Ash neck. Finally did some recording with it yesterday and it kicks the crap out of Taylor/Martin for fingerstyle..

now all i need is a cardigan, goatee and open toed sandals to fully embrace the inner folk monster.. that and living the next three years on nothing more than beans on toast..

Fylde Gutars are awesome, I got a chance to play a bunch of them at a trade show thing that they had a stand at. I also spoke to Roger Bucknall, the guy who makes them. Top bloke. 8)

I was especially impressed by the tenor guitar that they make. It was cool as.
Mustang. Isn't it.

They're amazing, really. Still in awe of the thing, and have to keep reminding myself that it's *just* a guitar...

anyways. demo

bit of a rough recording - cheap mic's, DI and reverb. Was messing around with in drop-D the other day (amazing how changing instruments suddenly makes you start coming up with newer material again... and this thing seems to love drop D and DADGAD with a passion) and ended up with something that needs a bit of work but will do for a demo. Some of you may fall asleep during it, so apologies now!!!

thanks for the comments - trying to put something together that doesn't involve me playing chords in yet another indie band but after hearing some of the more 'professional' acoustic players (maybe listening to pierre bensusan was a mistake) i've got a f*cking long way to go just yet... still. small steps...
