Wow. It's not that it's an empirically great sound, it's just that the amp feels so natural. Very resonant and lively - the cleans were truly lush.
They had it priced at $2200 - not worth that much (to me) by a long shot, but it was interesting to hear what a lived in old tweed amp sounds like. It confirmed my plans to build a tweed Princeton clone.
Anyone else had any tweed experiences?
Played through a 1960 Vibrolux today

I play though a '59 Bassman LTD and I love it.
Before it, I played just about every Marshall with all sorts of cabs. The Bassman was the first time I every played something with a soul (if that makes sense). When you bend, you can just hear it all the way up and with a flick of the wrist vibrato just sings.
It's not without its own issues, as every amp but it's one trick is epic. The closest thing I had to it was a '70s Marshall JMP, but it wasn't as open and airy as the Bassman (open 4x10 I guess).
Anyway, I've got much love for the Bassman and all Fender tweeds to boot.

I used a Custom Shop Vibrolux at a gig we played at yonks ago when we had to share backline. It belonged to a blues guitarist who was kind enough to lend it to me. It sounded really rather nice, I wasn't aware until later it was like £3000 amplifier. Did it sound good enough to justify the price tag? No. Did it make even a DS-2 sound good for my drive sound? Yes.
