What is this all supposed to cost?
A few months ago, anything made before the 80's was going for ridiculous cash. But now, prices are all over the place.
I was interested in getting a Bronco or a 70s Mustang or, hell, a Japanese Jaguar or Jazzmaster but I can't find consistent pricing on any of them. What can I expect out of short scale prices? Are Broncos really worth 600-800 that they're going for on eBay?

it really depends on the condition.Susano wrote:A few months ago, anything made before the 80's was going for ridiculous cash. But now, prices are all over the place.

It's all just vintage bragging rights, IMO.Susano wrote:I had a couple of good offers on Broncos, one early 70's, the other late 70's. But for the same price, I could almost get a CIJ Jag or something. Unless being Made in the USA makes the Broncos THAT much better?
Ya know, I've always heard that the bronco bridge is fatally flawed and to just stay away. That being said, Robroe seems to have no trouble with his. I guess what I'm trying to say is get a CIJ Jag instead. Or a reissue Mustang. Actually, definitely get a reissue stang - Dakota Red.

I'd advise to watch the market like a hawk for the right deal. Generally speaking, all prices are all over the place at the moment. Aphasiac paid £300ish for a Jag-stang 2 weeks ago and now there is one at nearly £400 on ebay, same model, same colour. The stuff i have seen lately go for hardly anything is unbelievable, especially at a time when i have no spare money.
Well, I'm selling my G&L Legacy in... 3 hours or so. That should give me enough cash, since I'm basically downgrading (although considering how sour I am on strats now, maybe it's not a downgrade).
The two 70's broncos I've been offered are $440 for a black '76 and 480 for a red '72... roughly the same as a CIJ Mustang and slightly below a CIJ Jag. Maybe $200-$250 less than a CIJ Jazzmaster.

yeah, prices on ebay uk seem to be fluctuating wildly at the moment. there's some laughably overpriced stuff in the vintage fender corner. and look at what timhulio's vista musicmaster went for. some people have ze crazy eyes...Fran wrote:I'd advise to watch the market like a hawk for the right deal. and am i the only person that doesn't have a problem with CBS fenders? i've got 3 and they're all solid as rocks, nothing wrong with them whatsoever. maybe i'm just lucky.
those prices seem absolutely fine to me. i'd much rather have one of those over a CIJ, but i'm more partial to vintage stuff.Susano wrote:The two 70's broncos I've been offered are $440 for a black '76 and 480 for a red '72... roughly the same as a CIJ Mustang and slightly below a CIJ Jag. you probably are lucky. my experience with cbs fenders is that they are very inconsistent. some can be great, but when they're bad, they're really bad.stewart wrote:and am i the only person that doesn't have a problem with CBS fenders? i've got 3 and they're all solid as rocks, nothing wrong with them whatsoever. maybe i'm just lucky.
on the other hand, i've never played a bad japanese fender.
