there is a dealer ship add that plays on local tv where the guy is playing a mid 90s CAR jag with matching stock.
pretty cool.
and there is actually a commercial for a kids program where it shows a studio, and there is a jazzy in the background.

Unless Fender has recently changed the Jazzmaster's scale length, seems to me this thread should be moved to the "All Other Guitars" subforum.

I came to this thread expecting a discussion about shortscale guitars, but then someone with no respect for rules came along and started talking about Jazzmasters. Not only am I severely disappointed but I have half a mind to never come back to this entire site unless this whole thread is moved to the 'all other guitars' subforum. Maybe then, and only then, will I be able to sleep at night.

It's hard to control whether a thread veers off-topic. Given the heading, your [sole] mention of a a Jag here was off-topic in this thread. Someone could just as easily throw in discussion about Stratocasters now.

But it's easier to control whether the thread is in the right place from the get-go, based on its actual stated topic and not how it might subsequently veer off of it.

In the current case there is a sub-forum, created deliberately and with intent by the people who run this Foum, which is labeled
" All Other Guitars
Talk about all other types of guitars. Jazzmasters go here! "

I did not create this, they did.

And the current thread title subject is:
"jazzmasters in new commercials"

These two facts taken together strongly indicate to me that this thread should, by Forum administrator direction, properly belong in that other sub-forum and not this one.

But if you say otherwise, I guess I must be mistaken.

Maybe I should start a thread, "Les Pauls vs. SGs, which do you prefer?", and post it here also; then throw in a solitary (and off-topic) comment about a Jaguar, so then we can leave that here too. And proceeding on that path forever, then the organizational categories set up by the Forum owners come to lose all meaning.

If I create a thread titled "Jazzmasters... aren't they just longer Jaguars?" would you have a stroke?

no no no no, i was talking about the other noobs post.
your post sucked.
listen man, the admins wouldn't have a fucking stroke over lil shit like this, and non of the members or old timers would either.
so just let it be.
you ever started a new job and for the first couple months you kept you mouth shut and did what you were told.
you should try that here. or just quit and say "its not for me"

The post might get moved, or might not, in an ambiguous case.

I don't think this case is ambiguous.

Do you think it is ambiguous?

"no no no no, i was talking about the other noobs post. "

Oh really, like I didn't know. Thank you for that clarification.
The fact that you sought to clarify is very informative.
