The predominance of 24" scale length guitars that have been made have come with single-coils.
And a while back Jaguars were pretty undervalued.
If you wanted humbuckers and a 24" scale length guitar, a number of years back, it could pretty easily come to this.
Especially after Cobain showed the way.

Those pickups just look too massive on the Jaguar body though, for my taste. Maybe they'd look better to me with covers, I don't know. But then I don't care for the Jazzmaster look either, along the same lines. Obviously reasonable people can differ, YMMV and all that.

Well, the reason I ended up with an HH jag was the price was right, and I always wanted a vintage jag. I like the traditional Jaguar single coil sound as well, but it's got kind of a cool sound with humbuckers too.

sorry man, didn't know i'd piss someone off by doing so... i was just wanting to share. it will be my first shortscale in quite a while, and i didn't plan on buying it or so... it just so happened.
having no other shortscales but several jazzmasters i OBVIOUSLY post more over there. but i thought now that the deal -wise or dumb- is done, it would make some of you guys happy to see another butchered jag get a nice and well-deserved good rockin' life.

plus... i'm no newbie or so to shortscales. i've been here (maybe not posting as much as most of you guys) for quite a while now. i've tried to help other people out with their doubts, whenever i could (look for the in-depth side-by-side comparison of a '73 tele deluxe and the MIM RI i did some years ago), IIRC i also sold a '75 mustang here for $400 or so, etc.

stop the damn rivalry complex... we love guitars, be it here, on OSG or Jagstang. to me, it's about our beloved toys and sharing them with like-minded pals all over the world. i can't be one of your super pals cuz i can't get together with you to get wasted or on doogfest or so... saddly.
IF i'd be there shure you would've said "cool man... you got ripped but it's gonna be a killer ax"...

Pat, you're OK by me my lovely. You've made one hell of an unusual deal with this one, and much more of this behaviour and we'll be looking at an intervention, but I think we should support you, not barrack you.

thnx man... i appreciate it.

remember the LP had a headstock reapair, covered mini-switch holes, massive wear (i loved that though) and a changed bridge pup. i get the butchered jag plus ~$500 extra. and i don't want a collector's guitar, i want a ROCKER which this one will become.

btw, i bougt my 1st shortscale ('66 musicmaster II) in '93, and a '66 jag in '98.

yes the pic is from '99 or so...

first off, congrats on the jag, yo rid yourself of a les paul which in my opinion is a good thing. it is on the tatty side but thats what projects are for. I dont think you should jazzuar it though. get it back to stock asap. fill dem routes do a nice job.

second off as you can see I have read the thread on offset, because I check the forum out all the time. there is no rivalry as far as I am concerned I like offset. I dont feel I am part of anything there like I am here. but its cool none the less.

I do not like cross posts between forums, although I understand that on some occasions when people want to reach the widest audience it happens and I have done it myself before(pedal demos for example on HC).
In this instance I feel like shortscale came off as the second thought. which bummed me out as I have always liked your input on the boards.
its a shame, but regardless good luck with the new Jag.

You're definitely not a noob (not that I have anything agains noobs, I suspect that it looks like I does). You're an old face on here, and you are valued.

I think any sort of rivalry thing is daft. Generally speaking, the people at offset have different priorities and interests than us, and that's fair enough. It's not as if the two forums are ever going to come together into some sort of super love forum, and there's no reason they should. There's no need to feel bad about that, and there's no reason to hope that the other forum somehow goes down.

Now, jag-stang.com, that's a different story altogether.

Posting on offset is not a crime! there are people on there that know allot.
but we wanna know about your stuff too. your new jazzmaster for example!! make a thread people will want to see.

The one particular interest /priority they have there that's different from me is.. Jazzmasters !!!
I have no interest in long-scale guitars, and if I did Jazzmasters wouldn't be at the top of my list. Yet they are undeniably more popular than Jaguars, and the posting % there reflects that reality. Still there's a lot of good info/posters there, so I've found it worth it to wade through the majority Jazzmaster posts.

The organization of "Short Scale" vs. "Other guitars" here is theoretically more appealing to me, since I shouldn't have to wade through majority Jazzmaster posts here to find items of interest. But there hasn't always been the same level of chatter here, on topics I'm interested in, during the brief time I've been checking in.
