Oscilloscope Design (Pic Heavy)

Post by roachello »

The latest of my designs:

Just finished my oscilloscope a few weeks ago! The class kept bugging me on why there had to be buttons when the majority was already controlled by touch screen so the whole damn thing is touch screen. Features include 3 channel inputs, one ext, 2 USB inputs, and a power button. There is an option for screen capture but it's on the touchscreen menu.

I am a massive fan of the form. I think that simple curve would make it far more attractive to me than a normal flat scope with back-stand.

((run))

I think it's bigger than it looks too, it goes about 5 inches back, 7 on the diagonal so it's not as bulky as it may seem

roachello is cool!
i liked the design.
when this comes to production, i think they must focus most on making touch screen best quality. otherwise (if it won't be sensitive/precise enough) it just won't live long due to being unpractical.

Cool!

A touch screen on an EKG machine would be hard to operate with gloves on, though.
Don't forget to add a mute button. I've worked in an intensive care unit, and the mute button is handy for keeping your sanity.

i think they probably can make the screen very slicky. or the gloves 8)

The problem is more with the gloves. Non-sterile clean gloves come in only 3 sizes (S-M-L), so the never fit quite right except on a small minority of people. The looseness of the fingertips is a real problem with touchscreens. Our CBGM machines use touchscreens, and I end up having to poke the screen with my pen because it's impossible to use properly with the gloves on.

Sweet! I miss the black guitar knobs, but the finished design is more modern and sleek. I like the idea of a touch screen because it may be easier to clean. Very cool that you can get immediate feedback from Astro.

What is the mockup made of?
