Guitar, effects and amp prices etc
Bearing in mind we're in a bit of a credit crunch/ recession situation do you think we'll see the prices of guitars, effects or amps etc come down? I saw that Fender are putting up their prices on 1 December (which meant I had to bring forward my Fender Telecaster Deluxe purchase) but just wondered what your thoughts were. I've returned to playing guitar after a good 10/ 12 year break and upgrading my equipment and would love to see prices come down! What do you think?
You guys don't know how good you have it. Ireland are the ones that get fucked.euan wrote:They will go up as the manufacturers need to cover their costs. The UK will get fucked even further in the process.
Exhibit A: Fender Telecaster Custom (Belfast, UK) €520/£440
Exhibit B: Fender Telecaster Custom (Limerick, Ireland) €929/£785
I rest my case.

I can't argue with that. The prices in Dublin are insane. I remember at least once thinking i was looking at an AVRI Jag/Jazzmaster based on the price, only to look at the back and see "Crafted in Japan". The euro dropping from £1=€1.4 to £1=€1.2 just makes it worse.Fibus wrote:You guys don't know how good you have it. Absolutely true. My local Fender authorised dealer quickly showed me the letter he received. He said that the prices could go up by 25%...I think they were warned the price increase would be at least 10-15%.nomorebridge wrote:Is that true Fender are putting up prices on the 1st? is that for certain

australian prices are outrageous especially seeing as 4 months ago AUD$1=US$0.96 now its around US$0.65
THEN add another 25% on top of that?!?!?!?
They already have gone up? Have you guys been looking at MF and GC.com and stuff lately? Shit's through the roof. Epi Les Paul customs are like, 800 bucks? I remember when Gibson LP Studios cost that much.
I noticed the AV Strat has gone up by about 50% since I got one.

you guys over the pond get screwed pretty hard, there is no way around it.
it sucks alot for everyone tho. for some of it us its a hobby, others its a seriousfucking hobby.
and some of us even make ends meet by using and abusing guitars and whatnot.
the price increase just makes it that much more difficult to have a hobby, or to make ends meet with music.
on a side note i listened to a conservative talk radio guy while i was in northern ILL. and he even said something like.
"GEE, thanks Prez Bush. the cost of everything is going up, but im not making anymore money to afford these things, and on top of that my house is worth less that it was when i bought it 10 years ago even tho i put thousands of dollars in upgraded kitchen equipment."

were all screwed--- my business is so off, dont know if i will make it through
everyone is hurting, esp middle class america (whats left of it)
how can they justify raising prices when we are all hurting?
supply and demand i guess
buy fender today- tomorrow will be too late

I would have given up already if it wasn't for the impending revolution!
Barring horrible disasters, DWarfcraft will not raise prices until July 2009 at which time all suitable pedals will be transferred to recycled aluminum enclosures from a one man operation http://pedalenclosures.com/ resulting in as much as $10 increase in retail price. However, the Great destroyer may stay at the same price.
