Definitely, and lightning bolt clown masks.

As for the amp, I'm extremely fond of my Silverface Bassman, it's a really straightforward amp. Recently I've been into Sovteks as well which the Traynor YBA-1's description reminded me of. Sovteks are supposed to have bassman cleans with JCM800ish (I think) dirties. Ebay is a great bet for those.

I really like the way Mig 50's sound. Before I settled on the Traynor, I was seriously considering them. They are characteristically similar to YBA-1's but are capable of higher, Hiwatt-like gain. They're also getting increasingly difficult to find for reasonable prices, though.

Ultimately the YBA's a much better deal because the sum of their parts are often worth more than the asking price. They are point-to-point, filled with mullards, mustard caps and softball-sized hammond transformers. I've seen several go for around 400 bucks.

Though I'm rather biased towards Orange, I honestly think that's the road to go down from what you said in your first post. I don't know what value is like in the Channel Islands, but in the UK you definitely get more "bang for your buck" (yes I'm aware of the daftness of that in this context :p) with Orange than you do Fender, especially with the amount you're willing to drop.
