Stop Gap Guitar Amp

Post by Jazzmasterfan »

Well, I couldn't make my mind up if I wanted to get a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp or a Fender Twin or an Orange or something else! Bearing in mind I live in the Channel Islands and the selection of amps to try out is slim...I was reduced to reading reviews, checking out YouTube and taking advice on here (all of which was gratefully received).

I wasn't sure what I wanted so have decided to purchase a stop gap...I'll be gigging early in the New Year and didn't want to hang around much longer. What I was really after was an amp with a lovely clean Fender type sound which I could dirty up a bit from time to time...either by using the amp or pedals or both.

When I am in the UK next year I will find a decent shop and try out a load of amps...as a stop gap I have bought the Line 6 Flextone III XL...mainly because it has a good selection of Fender amp model sounds (all of the ones I was interested in!), plus some good Marshall sounds and VOX amp sounds etc. As I don't pay VAT I've managed to get it for £304!

Thanks to all for your advice!

Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year to all!

It's a toughie..... how many people have been looking for that mini twin and for how long!

It's a impossible task I have been working on for about four years....

My two suggestions would be this head

http://www.andertons.co.uk/acatalog/info_SC50VH.html

It's 50 watts and looks like it has Fender DNA somewhere with those 6L6's.... I think the HC review youmight want to read of it one guy who owned it said it basically was beautiful and clean like a twin on a budget so you could check that out I'm always meaning to.... But obviously it's a head which could be a pain..... I don't think there are many cheap Fender inspired amps out there! If I'm wrong someone tell me!

The other thing you could do is get one of those newish Fender Champs/Vibro champs XD's

they higher powered one the champ is only 15 watts though so your not going to get a stack of headroom but maybe some Fender tones in a small cheap package!

Other than that I'm not too sure
