They are aye, as much as any vintage gears is at a ridiculous price. They are still top fucking drawer guitars though, and represent a high point for Squier that they have sort of been forced not to meet ever since. These Squiers were better than the American guitars remember.

Japanese guitars by and large are very good - I still prefer my MIJ Mustang to my '67 Duo-Sonic.
I saw a 1985 MIJ Fender 50's Strat at my local shop today.It is black with a V shape neck in mint condition,$599.It's nice but not as accurate a reissue as those JV Squiers.
