Yeah, I never snap a string, but I did start noticing them unwinding and when I was using the trem (harshly) thats when I would get them unwinding and I would loose the string. I had thought about solder for a while...and then I came across someone suggesting it online somewhere and I tried it. it has been very successful so far. worth a try if you are having problems, if not don't bother.Zaphod wrote:Woah. I've never noticed the strings coming unwound before but they're doing it on my jag looking at it.

Quite possibly, It's something I do so I included it. but I am probably an extreme case because of my trem usage. if your strings aren't snapping and you have no tuning issues then there isn't much point in doing it.Zaphod wrote:It's overdue for a string change anyway so it might just be the length of time they've been on there, not had any problem with it yet though.

haha, come to think of it we could do tutorials for stringing up all types of guitars with different bridges, different tuners
what i don't understand, though, is that when you buy a guitar as a noob, but it has strings on it, at one point you're gonna change the strings, but you have an example how the strings should go on right ? because there were strings on there in the first place... i don't get it.

I agree, I'm sure I was slightly perplexed at the tuners first time I saw them...but I has no internets or people to ask when I first came across them..so I must of just figured it out myself. everything in that video is stuff I have learned myself...I didn't learn it from anyone else. so I wonder why other people find it so hard. but then again I still find basic English grammar hard to get right. so we all have our strengths and weaknesses. just thank fuck for firefox spell checker.heavium wrote:haha, come to think of it we could do tutorials for stringing up all types of guitars with different bridges, different tuners

I made it wrong the last 15 years. I prefer to have a little more string wound around the tuner, so a string can be repaired when it breaks somewhere near the bridge.
