BobArsecake wrote:rofl, wtf? Were you cutting the strings with your skin? Harder things cut softer things, that's how things are separated into more than one piece. Just measure the string out to 2 tuners up, cut it, dip the freshly cut end into the hole, bend it, and wrap around.
it's fucking freezing here, and I get cold really easily cold hands + pushing on strings = hurt.
this is also an incredibly stupid question (i'm full of them ), when my friend taught me (way back when...3-4 years ago?) how to change strings he never told me anything about stretching them?
I thought they just get stretched out when you're pulling them and all that shit while stringing them...am I not doing something correct *head is still hung in shame*
It's just to stop it going out of tune alot when you've first got em on.
Theres no right or wrong way to string up, just one that makes sense and one that doesn't.
The first few times I strung up I didn't know you were supposed to trim them so I wound the whole string round the peg, it took fucking ages and looked like such a mess when I'd finished haha.
ha, it's something I was actually thinking about looking into today (obviously I am in dire need of learning a fuck load more about most things on guitars), but playing guitar is my favourite thing to do (besides buying new guitars?), and I've always been interested in learning how to mod guitars.
It's either that or recording engineer (something I'm already good at )
Ah, everyone's got to learn some time, you'll be stringing it up in no time, with unscathed hands too!
Great vid, Hurb. Pretty interesting how you hold the string tight as you wind it in. I usually place it in the nut, and hold my thumb over the top of the hole to stop it flying out, with a finger over the string at the nut as I wind it tight. I think I'll have a crack at how you do it there next time I restring, looks quite easier/more comfortable. P'raps make a new topic and sticky it in the guitar resources?
I finished stringing it a couple minutes ago, and I'm never fucking changing these god damn strings, these are great tuners, but a real fucking pain in the ass.
by the looks of it, it seems like I did a damn good job.
It's a little far off for me to give you a definite yes/no answer but I'll definitely try to make it.
Fixed your poster
lol thank you, I wanted to do that actually, many people suggested it to me, just was too lazy to do it
do you mind if I print it?
hopefully you can come, also I am looking for bands to play some shows with in january...I think I saw a thread where you posted something about having a band?
EDIT : also I noticed that now when I play my mustang strumming it feels alot different, the strings feel like they have alot less give than the stock ones did (which is understandable cause these are 10's)...but I didn't find such a big difference with 10's on my jagmaster.
