Reccomend me a Les Paul shortscale!

Right, I've decided I'd really like a Les Paul sometime in the near future. I've been looking at the Epiphone Les Paul "Customs" and I've even played one and thought it was really good. I just thought I'd ask around here to see if anyone has any reccomendations. I've not got a huge budget so a "genuine" Gibson is probably out of the question.

Damn JD, if i had known yesterday i would have shown you THIS, i was even tempted myself. I had a Burny before and they are mint, plus this one is aimed at teH ladies market so it has a thinner body to cut the weight down.

In my experience i'd have any of them over Epiphone but having said that i've never tried the 'goth' series like sloan.

Cheers! Deffo gonna have a look at those Gordon smith guitars. Hopefully I'll find somewhere in Manchester that stocks them (Arsecake, you know anywhere?).

A guy I know has an old Ibanez Les Paul copy and I tell you what, it blows any Gibby "Studio" that I've played out of the water by a fucking mile.

Dunno what it is about them, I've just decided I really like the sound of Les Pauls. Les Pauls and Strats, wtf is happening to me?

Forsythe's definitely have them, not seen any in Johnny Roadhouse for a while, same with Music Ground, and I doubt Dawson's have any, the useless cunts.

I'd go for either Gordon Smith or Tokai , Hagstrom do a Les Paul type guitar to.

That Tokai i used in the Pistols blew my mates Gibson away and it was'nt one of the high end 'love rock' models either. LPs sound awesome but i hate the weight, thats why that blue Burny interested me.

Soundsgreatmusic has them as well. The guitars are made in Manchester so everyone stocks them I think. Though you might not find a graduate that cheap. More the GS series.

Yep, agreed. Edwards are worth a look too, but Tokai FTMFW. My Tokai protip runs thus: check the trussrod cover - three screws = Made in Korea, two screws = Made in Japan. The latter are better.

Someone offered me a tokai love rock for a couple hundred quid aaages ago when I was looking for my first guitar. Like a twat I turned it down before I even looked at the guitar 'cause I had no idea what I was looking for and I was set on a semi-hollow for some reason.

The series starts at around Â£300 up to about Â£1000 I believe.

Depends which 'love rock' it was, the Jap ones are the most desirable, mine was korean and i think they have some chinese produced ones now too. Its hard to tell the difference with some of them other than what benecol said about screws in the truss cover.

I've never managed to get my hands on a Jap Tokai. I fell inlove with a RIC copy but it was a MIK and didn't sound too hot one I actually picked it up.
