I wish the Squier duo's came in more colors. I know the color is to look like the original, but later on they were offered in a lot more colors.

Moving the bridge pickup away from the bridge will make it sound darker by itself.

WHen you have the bridge and neck combined, the angle between the pickups changes which modes of vibration will add and which will cancel a little bit, in a way that is straightforward physics, but not something you can explain in a few words, other than to say that the tones will be different.

Our (unmodified) Duo Sonic has both pickups angled to be closer to the bridge on the high strings.

Now if you string it lefty then all this angling sort of goes the other way around since the high strings and low stings are exchanged.

Alternate tunings change these effects a little, but not that much unless you use tunings far away from standard. Tunings like those Sonic Youth ones where you have a lot of strings which are octaves and unison will end up having a good deal of interaction with the pickup angle.
