24 Scale Strat Options

Post by 65erSC »

I see some of you have put the conversion neck Jagstang neck on strats. What are other options for a 24" scale strat? I would love to have my 65ri mustang neck on a strat body. Thanks.

the conversion neck isnt from the jag-stang, its from the jagmaster, and you definately wouldnt be able to put a stang neck on there, without heavy modification

I'm not sure it would work. It would have to be custom and probably wouldn't have more then 18 frets.

Plus it would look weird. I'd just go for a 24.75" Warmoth conversion neck.

Thanks. I think I'm going to go with the warmoth conversion neck on a MIM standard body. I am going to replace the pickups and tremelo anyway. How do mosy folks like the compound radius on the warmoth compared to a straight radius?

Compound radius seems like a dumb idea on warmoth's part. You end up matching the flatter part on the board at the bridge leaving the action higher on the outside strings as you move closer to the nut. Or you match the rounder part and have the opposite problem. When all is said and done it may or may not be too noticeable but it strikes me as poor design.

Well I ended up going with a conversion neck but decided against the warmoth. I read some reviews about quality issues and I was nervous of the compound radius of 10-16. I know you can get a straight cut but the compound sounds good and the few guys I've talked to have liked them. I bought a 24 3/4 conversion neck from USA Custom Guitars. It will have a compound radius of 7.25-9.5 with a maple neck and fretboard, satin finish, ss 6501 frets. It should be here in about a month. I am going to take it to my tech for a graphite nut and the neck install and setup. Will post pics when its complete!
