No way man, Floyd Rose FTW! You could cut the headstock like the bc rich 'widow' headstock with a jigsaw as well, that would look ace!
kahler's force you to rout more of the body, and replacing more wood with moving parts is the name of the game!

i will get one of those engine turned aluminum pickguards, and put coated 8 gauge strings and and and... lsr roller nut! i will put little star shaped stickers over the fret board dots. fender TBX tone circuit and one of those GFS built in phasers, but i wont need to install a switch, because that shit needs to be always on.

When you stay faithful to a guitar it'll stay faithful to you... if that means modding it then so be it... but either way it'll be faithful.

Nicest guitar I've seen in a while, as is !!

And your girl, she tells us you like chicken so guess what, dawg...

Yeah that's right, we dipped the WHOLE THING IN RAW CHICKEN JUICE, YEAH! WHO'S PIMPIN NOW, BOYEE!?!

I seriously love that guitar, though. To be honnest, I don't think the mods you're planning are bad at all.
So long as it can all be reverted back to original cause that thing kicks all kinds of ass, as is.

I go back and forth daily as far as what I want to do. I know that I will at least change the tuners because I really really really don't want to break off any of the buttons.

Anyhow, I am pleased everyone likes it. It is my favorite guitar ever, by far, even as is. I just would like to make it so by an even bigger margin, haha.

I have a SG-100 which replaced the SG Melody Makers. It has a Melody Maker pickup at the neck instead of at the bridge & I love it. I suspect yours sounds bright due to it being at the bridge. Love the color, do what you want with it!

yeah, this would probably make a better neck pickup, due to its lower output.

yours probably has the gibson logo extruded on the plastic cover, right? i wonder if those are the same. is it like this?

Image

those are cool.

for some reason i REALLY like these. i would remove the guard.

something about that control plate on the sg100s i really like.

i love the color too! thanks!

Mine is exactly like the first example & it has gibson on the pickup cover. Everything I've researched on the SG-100 indicated that it had a Melody Maker pickup. Here's a crappy late night photo:

I've never seen one like the second example, was it modded?
