Anyone have any experience with these Basses?

Talk about all other types of guitars. Jazzmasters and basses go here!

SX BASSES

I'm looking to get a new bass...I saw that Rondoguitars makes a JAGUAR w/block inlays as well as Jazz Basses too! They are dirt cheap, claim to have alder bodies. I'm sure the electronics are shit, but damn u could upgrade it. Anyone know how these are?

i have one of thier necks and i love it, the thing was well worth the 38.50 i spent on it.
there is a fellow here in town that has owned about 3 of the jazz bass ones and 1 p-bass.
by his accounts they need a bit of setup and nut work but once that is completed they are in par with good mexican quility fender stuff.
i like how they have a shortscale jaguar bass and a normal scale, i might pick up the shortscale version........

I'm sure that the quality is hit or miss, and for the price, you'd have to change the pickups right away, but they do look cool.

Cheap basses are better than cheap guitars. I'm sure it'd be ok, like Squier Affinity quality.

I have one of these:

Very similar to the SX but with humbuckers.

I don't like it cos I can't get it to make any decent sounds.
But in it's defence I've been using a 1970s guitar amp, rather than a bass amp.

I like that they got the upper horn right and Fender didn't.

I don't own a bass but kind of want one for recording stuff, and I think this looks kind of sexy. And the price couldn't be better:

Exactly my point. I don't play bass, but need it for recording, etc. And these basses are like $150 :!:

I was wondering if anyone knew of any "fit/finish" problem with them...Like besides I'd prolly have to set it up and adjust the neck/action on it and upgrade pickups/bridge.

I has this bass. I'm a guitarist who just needed a bass for recording and it surpassed my expectations. I used to record with a Bronco bass, but since I bought that SX Jazz Bass, I let my old bassist have the Bronco back.

My only complaint about SX guitars/basses are the artificial feeling necks. But in the case of a bass, it's not too big of a deal.

I thought that too. It's just the part around the pickup that it looks way too angular to me.

yeah around the pup and down to the control plate.
altho i don't think it would be too much bother to make it more visually appealing, and the need for some extra knobs/switches.
